It is hard to believe that this is the final week of school for this year. We have had so many great programs and activities and have enjoyed watching your students learn and grow. We hope that you all have a wonderful summer and we will see you in a few months. We wish our 9th graders the best as they start at Mountain View and Timpanogos in the fall. We have had some great celebrations going on these last few weeks. Families, with 2 weeks left in school. Please take a look at the following information and dates to stay up to date on end of year activities and info. We encourage all parents and students to login to Skyward and check grades for all their terms and work with teachers to get all work in before the end of school year. Summer school starts June 5-16th. Any 9th grade student that did not pass a class should attend to make up credit and be on track for graduation. Please reach out to your counselor for any questions.

Hemos tenido grandes celebraciones en estas últimas semanas!
Familias, con 2 semanas restantes en la escuela. Revise la siguiente información y fechas para mantenerse actualizado sobre las actividades y otra información sobre el fin de año. 4th Term is here and Spring Break is right around the corner. We are excited for the Track Team and hope that the weather is good for the rest of their meets. Our 9th graders will be able to register for their high school classes this week. Make sure to click on this for more information. As we are getting closer to the end of the year we ask that you take time to look at your students grades, especially in 9th grade to make sure your student isn’t behind on their high school credits. We will be holding a short summer school at Orem Jr to help recover lost credit, but now is also a good time for our students to meet with their teachers and get credit made up now. Reminder that we have before and after school tutoring in Room 3 everyday and we would love to see more students take advantage of it.
We will have our Spring Fling 4th Term Incentive and 9th Grade Day at Lagoon. More information to come

As we are coming to the end of Term 3. We just wanted to remind you of an awesome opportunity for students that we feel is being underutilized and would love to see it used more. We have partnered with UVU to provide before and after school tutoring. We have a teacher and 3 amazing aides that are there everyday in Room 3 to support your student on any subject. We also have a late bus that will drop your student off at 4:30. As a parent I often forget to check my own students' grades, but would encourage this week to get on and see where your student is at in each of their classes. We have our term 3 incentive coming up on March 6th. Students will be able to go to Classic Skating and skate and play on their bounces houses. Students need to have all passing classes and 5 or fewer tardies.
Thanks to our Drama Teacher Olivia Diaz and Choir Teacher Tesah Barton and all of our students who participated in our School Musical Aladdin.

Happy Friendship Month! There are a lot of great things going on this month. Basketball season is wrapping up and track season is coming. We have our Aladdin Musical starting on February 9th-tickets are just $5 on MySchoolFees. Counselors are meeting with 7th and 8th grade students and parents for registration for next year's classes. We will also be holding our 7th Grade Registration and Showcase night on Monday Feb 6th. This will take place of our normal parent teacher conferences. Bring your whole family and get some food and participate in activities and booths for all our programs and classes. Welcome back from a long weekend. I feel like lately everytime I wake up there is snow or rain. I know we need the moisture, but I can’t wait to feel the sun again soon. We appreciate your efforts to get your students to school everyday and for our teachers who prepare lessons and experiences for them. Next school year is still a ways out, but as a school we are getting ready with classes and schedules. Our counselors will be meeting with current 7th and 8th graders starting this week and working on helping them get their classes picked out for next year. Feel free to reach out to our counselors for any questions. Our high schools will be doing Arena Scheduling later for our 9th graders and will get you information and dates for that when we have them. Orem Jr. will be holding our 6th Grade Registration (for incoming 7th graders) and Showcase Night on February 6th from 6-8:00pm. We invite all families to come and see the great things going on and help your students know of all the different classes and programs we have to offer. If you have any friends or family that will be attending here next year, please help us get the word out. We will have dinner and activities for all that come.

Bienvenidos de nuevo después de un largo fin de semana. Siento que últimamente cada vez que me despierto hay nieve o lluvia. Sé que necesitamos la humedad, pero no veo la hora de volver a sentir el sol pronto. Happy Holiday From Orem Jr! Christmas Break will go from December 17th to Jan 2nd. Classes will resume on Tuesday January 3rd.
Some of our 9th Grade students were able to participate in a Career and Technical Education Field Trip to Mountain View, Timpanogos, and Mountainland Technical College. If you want more information about future educational and career opportunities that can begin now for you students please reach out to your students counselor.
Basketball season is among us. We have our 9th Grade Boys and 9th Grade Girls that have played several games already this season. We wish them both the best for the rest of the season. Come join us for a game. They are usually held on Mondays and Thursdays at 3:00.
Reflections Party Congratulations to our Orem Jr. Students who participated in Reflections this year. 7 of our students won awards at the Council level and 5 of those students will be moving on to our District Level Reflections- Good Luck!

We hope you have a great Thanksgiving Break! We only have a few weeks left in the term and want to make sure all of our students are caught up and on track for the year. Please take time to review your student’s grades on Skyward and reach out to teachers if you have any questions or need any help. We also have before and after school tutoring in room 3 and in math rooms as well.
Come join us for basketball season and support our 9th grade Boys and Girls teams. They play twice a week-generally Mondays and Thursdays. Go Jags

¡Esperamos que tenga un gran descanso de Acción de Gracias! This past month we have had some great things going on. District Cross Country Meet, Creative Writing Field Trip, Fall Festival, Choir, Band and Orchestra Concerts, and many more exciting things happening in class and after school clubs.
Information:
- Halloween Dance Will be on Friday October 28th from 3-4:00. The dance is free for all students and the first 200 students get a glow stick. No costumes please.
- Halloween Dress Monday October 31st is Halloween. We love to celebrate Halloween and want to keep learning going on that day. Students are welcome to wear school appropriate costumes. No masks, no face paint that covers the entire face, no weapons real or fake. The dress code will still be enforced. No short shorts, skirts, tank tops, and other revealing clothing, and clothing with gang paraphernalia, drugs, and offensive words will not be tolerated.
- Counseling Survey Our Counseling department would like to hear from you on how they can best support our students and families at Orem Junior. Will you please take a few minutes to fill out the attached survey to provide them with some information on important needs and concerns. All information in the survey is anonymous and confidential. We appreciate your open and honest feedback so that we can accurately and appropriately improve our processes and services to you and your families.

Este último mes hemos tenido algunas cosas maravillosas. Reunión distrital a campo traviesa, excursión de escritura creativa, Festival de otoño, conciertos de coro, banda y orquesta, y muchas cosas más emocionantes que suceden en clase y clubes después de la escuela.
Información:
1-Baile de Halloween: Será el viernes 28 de octubre de 3-4:00. El baile es gratis para todos los estudiantes y los primeros 200 estudiantes reciben una barra luminosa. Sin disfraces por favor.
2-Vestimenta de Halloween: El lunes 31 de octubre es Halloween. Nos encanta celebrar Halloween y queremos seguir aprendiendo ese día. Los estudiantes pueden usar disfraces apropiados para la escuela. Sin máscaras, sin pintura facial que cubra todo el rostro, sin armas reales o falsas. El código de vestimenta aún se aplicará. No se tolerarán pantalones cortos, faldas, camisetas sin mangas y otra ropa reveladora, y ropa con parafernalia de pandillas, drogas y palabras ofensivas.
3-Encuesta de Consejería: A nuestro departamento de Consejería le gustaría saber de usted cómo pueden apoyar mejor a nuestros estudiantes y familias en Orem Junior. ¿Podría tomarse unos minutos para completar la encuesta adjunta para brindarles información sobre necesidades e inquietudes importantes? Fall is in the air. Check out some of the activities students have been involved in the last few weeks (Cross Country, School Dance, Spirit Week)
Information:
- Parent Teacher Conferences Tuesday September 27th from 4-7pm. There will also be parent information meetings on how to use Skyward, signing up for free and reduced lunch, English Language Development, and substance awareness (teenage vaping)
- Girls Basketball Open Gym/information meeting September 28th and 29th at 3:00
- Before School Homework Is available for any student starting this week at 7:30am in Room 3.
- Picture Day Retakes Oct 19th starting at 8:15 any student needing to retake their picture or anyone that wasn’t able to take their picture on Picture Day can come down on the morning of October 19th
- End of Term and Fall Break: The last day of the term is October 12th and Fall Break will be Oct 13th-17th. The Student Council will be holding a Fall Festival on October 11th for students that are caught up on their grades. Class schedule on that Tuesday will be similar to our Wednesday Schedule and then students who are caught up can go out and participate in those activities. Students who need remediation will have that opportunity that afternoon to get caught up for the term

- Reflections: The Reflections Theme for 2022-2023 is "Show Your Voice!".
PTA Reflections welcomes, free of charge, and encourages, students from all grades and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Annually, thousands of students will reflect on a common theme and create original works of art in the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, 2D Visual Arts, and 3D Visual Arts. Together, we can offer positive reinforcement for participation in the National PTA Reflections program.
PTA volunteers run the Reflections program at local (school), council, region, and state levels. Utah received over 15,000 entries in 2021-2022. Roughly 300,000 entries are submitted nationwide.
Every student who enters will be invited to a Recognition Party, receive an Award Certificate and participation incentives. Those students who move on to the next level will have a chance to earn more rewards.
Due date for entries is October 25, 2022.
Enter the Annual Theme Logo Contest here: https://www.utahpta.org/reflections-theme-logo-contest-rules-instructions to choose the theme for the 2024-2025 school year. Utah will send 5 suggestions to the national level. The national winner receives a cash prize. Enter before November 1st, 2022 for your theme suggestion to be considered.

8. Reflexiones: El tema de Reflexiones para 2022-2023 es "¡Muestra tu voz!". Reflexiones de la PTA da la bienvenida, de forma gratuita, y alienta a los estudiantes de todos los grados y habilidades a explorar y participar en las artes. Anualmente, miles de estudiantes reflexionarán sobre un tema común y crearán obras de arte originales en las categorías de coreografía de danza, producción cinematográfica, literatura, composición musical, fotografía, artes visuales 2D y artes visuales 3D. Juntos, podemos ofrecer un refuerzo positivo para la participación en el programa Reflections de la PTA Nacional.
Los voluntarios de la PTA ejecutan el programa Reflections a nivel local (escuela), consejo, región y estado. Utah recibió más de 15,000 entradas en 2012-2022. Aproximadamente 300.000 entradas se envían en todo el país.
Todo estudiante que ingrese será invitado a una Fiesta de Reconocimiento, recibirá un Certificado de Premiación e incentivos de participación. Aquellos estudiantes que pasen al siguiente nivel tendrán la oportunidad de ganar más recompensas.

PTA Reflections welcomes, free of charge, and encourages, students from all grades and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Annually, thousands of students will reflect on a common theme and create original works of art in the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, 2D Visual Arts, and 3D Visual Arts. Together, we can offer positive reinforcement for participation in the National PTA Reflections program.
PTA volunteers run the Reflections program at local (school), council, region, and state levels. Utah received over 15,000 entries in 2021-2022. Roughly 300,000 entries are submitted nationwide.
Every student who enters will be invited to a Recognition Party, receive an Award Certificate and participation incentives. Those students who move on to the next level will have a chance to earn more rewards.
Due date for entries is October 25, 2022.

School starts next week-We want to celebrate at our Back to School Night. Come join us on Monday August 15th from 4:30-6:30. We will be serving hog dogs, chips, and drinks from 5:00-6:00.

- Back to School Night: August 15th, It will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We will be serving hot dogs, chips, and drinks from 5:00 to 6:00 in the lunchroom and hope to see you there! There will also be a TItle 1 Parent Meeting at 6:15 in the library
- 7th Grade Day: We are excited to meet all of our incoming 7th graders on Tuesday August 16th from 8:15-11:15 Busses will be running for students and we will also be providing lunch for all 7th graders.
- First Day of School: School starts for everyone on Wednesday August 17th at 8:15-12:45. This is also an early out day for secondary students-they will get out at 12:45 every Wednesday. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday students come from 8:15-2:45.

- Locker: All students are assigned their own locker. Locker location will be on your students schedule. Please see Mrs. Shurtliff for any questions or locker changes.
- School Lunch: The National School Lunch Program waiver that has been providing FREE meals to students expired at the end May 2022. Students will need to pay for school lunch and breakfast starting the first day of school August 17th or fill out a free and reduced meal application online starting July 25, 2022.
