Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

I hope that you are all enjoying your summer vacation and look forward to the start of school in the fall.  We have been diligently working to put plans in place all summer. I hope you all have seen the MSAD #37 Return to School Plans that Mr. Ramsay released on July 30. It is available at the following links: (English Version) (Spanish Version).

To ensure that we can comply with the safety guidelines set forth by the CDC, MDOE, and DHHS, Narraguagus has decided to start the school year with a Hybrid Schedule.

Hybrid Schedule:

Students will be put in the Maroon or the White group. The Maroon group will come to school on Mondays and Thursdays with the expectation that they will do work remotely from home on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  The White group will come to school on Tuesdays and Fridays with the expectation that they will do remote work from home on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We will put students that live together in the same group to the best of our ability. We will have a seven period schedule everyday. Technology will be used both at school and for homework; alternate at-home assignments may be made for students without home internet access.

This is the day set aside for teachers to connect with Fully Remote Learners. No students will come to the school building on Wednesdays, but all students will be expected to participate in remote learning at home.

Fully Remote Learning Option:

Students can opt into our fully remote learning program. No direct teacher instruction will take place. Fully remote learners will be receiving work to do throughout the week using technology. Alternate assignments may be made for students without home internet access. Fully remote students will be expected to connect with their teachers on Wednesdays via video conference or phone call.

CTE Students:

Students enrolled in one of the CTE programs will receive additional information about how their specific schedule will work in the near future.

Attendance & Grading:

Attendance will be taken each school day--both in the school building and at home--for both Fully Remote and Hybrid learners. Students will receive numeric and/or letter grades for all homework, tests, quizzes, etc.  Please note these important changes from our crisis schooling procedures last spring.

Precautions for Safety:

Here are just a few of the procedures we will follow to maximize safety for students and staff:

We will be offering several opportunities for you to ask questions of us live. On Tuesday, August 11 we will have three, one-hour long Zoom meetings that you can enter using the links below.

         11:00 AM        Parents/Guardians

         2:00 PM        Students Only

         6:00 PM        Parents/Guardians

Phone Calls Home:

The school will be reaching out to each family to ask if you have any questions about the plan, if your student will return to school, if you have reliable internet and if your child will ride the bus, drive themselves, or be dropped off by a parent. This will also be your opportunity to enroll your student(s) in our Fully Remote Option.

We hope you will take into consideration that all schools across the state will be following the same guidelines and rules. They were decided upon by our own CDC, DHHS and MDOE for the health and safety of all Maine students and staff. Narraguagus plans to have all guidelines in place to keep your children safe. We will be prepared to go Fully Remote with all students if and when the need arises.

Thank you for your continued patience and support!

MaryEllen H. Day
