NEWS from the SMFC SCHOOL DISTRICT

SCHOOL BOARD/DISTRICT MEETINGS:

• A SMFCSD Regular School Board Meeting will be held on Thursday, September 23, 6:30pm. 
• A SMFCSD Regular School Board Meeting will be held on Thursday, October 7, 6:30pm.

SMFCSD - FREE COVID TESTING:

SMFCSD has partnered with Virus Geeks to offer free PCR Covid Tests. See this link for the dates, times, and locations. Testing is open to all family members and you can visit any location, regardless which school your student(s) attend. The last one is Tuesday, September 21 at Sunnybrae.

COVID POOL TESTING

The district has partnered with Concentric by Ginkgo to provide an optional and free COVID-19 pooled testing program.  Participating in this program will help safeguard the wellbeing of our entire school community.

Please fill out and submit the online consent request below if you wish to give consent for your child to be included in the pooled testing program. https://testcenter.concentricbyginkgo.com/minor-consent/

Then, enter this access code: BOWDITCH2021

Finally, enter your child’s information, and you’re done.

Note: If you need to provide consent for more than one child, please complete the process once for each child.

Pooled testing will begin weekly today, Monday, September 20, 2021 for those who submitted their consent form by noon on Friday, September 17th.

GO FOR THE GOLD:

The SMFC PTA Council is running a PTA/PTSA membership drive! Help Bowditch Middle School Go for the Gold! See the flyer for more information. The Bowditch PTSA needs your donation more than ever so we can keep supporting our students, staff, teachers and community. The Bowditch Middle School PTSA fundraises mainly through Direct Donation. All donations are tax deductible. We are requesting a donation of $225 per student, however any amount is appreciated. Please check if your Employer offers ‘Corporate Matching’ to increase your donation. For more information see our Donate to the PTSA page.

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BOWDITCH...

PTA REFLECTIONS: SUBMIT ARTWORK BY NOVEMBER 4, 2021

This year’s theme, “I Will Change The World By...” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Given the continued impact of COVID-19, student participation in the arts, particularly in arts programs like Reflections, is now more important than ever to help them process their thoughts and feelings. Similar to last year, we will be accepting student entries through the Virtual Student Entry Form, which includes uploading your child’s artwork to the form.

SCHOOL FALL SPORTS:

Thank you to all fall athletes and parents who attended our sports night last Monday.  Please see the following link for information as well as for the link to the SportsNet registration.  ALL PARTICIPATING FALL ATHLETES MUST COMPLETE THIS REGISTRATION.

Please see the following link for the volleyball scheduling through the end of October.  This will be live updating if there are to be any changes.  Teams scheduled for practices at Brewer Island will be given additional information at their practices.

Student pictures have arrived and will be distributed this week. Picture retake day is October 1st. You can order pictures at https://my.lifetouch.com/ with your student’s school ID or Picture Day ID: EVTBC96Q

BOWDITCH 2020-21 YEARBOOKS:

We are still waiting for the yearbooks from last year (2020-21) to be delivered. Once they are delivered to the school Ms. Launer will arrange for their distribution and we will post in schoolloop, facebook and here.

BOWDITCH HOODIES from 8th Grade Promo Fundraiser:

Hoodies should arrive this week and will be available for pick-up at the school. Pick-up details will be sent out once they arrive.

Gentle reminder to those who have ordered Bowditch Hoodies and haven't sent in a payment to please do so as soon as you can. Put cash or check (payable to Bowditch PTSA) in an envelope with your child's name on it and write "Hoodie Payment" and drop it in the PTSA box at the school office. If you would still like to purchase one, please fill out this order form. (Please note that sizes may be limited but Julie will reach out to you if they don't have your size.)

REMINDERS

CAMPUS REMINDERS

Phones:

Student phones are to be off and away during school hours.  Please help us by not texting or calling your student during school.

Backpacks:

A reminder that students may have backpacks in class. However, backpacks need to be able to fit under the chair. Large backpacks and roller backpacks  will not be allowed in classrooms.

Parking Lot:

A staff member’s car was hit in the parking lot Thursday, August 26th after school just east of the parent drop off loop. If you have information regarding this incident, please let the office know: 650-312-7680

School Issued Chromebooks:

Please remember that your child should bring their chromebook to school fully charged each day. Lunch:

• There are now additional tables available during lunch
• Lunch lines will now have ample spacing in between each other
• 8th graders will be playing for an estimated 10 min while the 6th and 7th graders eat

FACEBOOK: Join the Bowditch PTSA Facebook Group - Our Facebook group is a closed group and is a way for Bowditch Parents to connect. It is also a way for the PTSA to post last minute updates/changes, important reminders and information from the Bowditch community. Be sure to join so you get the latest scoop!

Free meals will be provided to all SMFCSD students during the 2021-2022 school year.  Applications are not required but are encouraged. They may provide families with access to additional benefits and services such as Pandemic-EBT, discounted internet and more.

PTA MEMBERSHIP

Did you know that ANYONE can become a member of the Bowditch Parent Teacher Student Association ("PTSA")? Parents, Teachers, Students, and Community Members can join to participate in the collective voice to benefit our children and school. When you join the Bowditch PTSA, you automatically become a member of the National PTA and California PTA. By joining the Bowditch PTSA, you get connected to the school, discover great resources for parents and students, tap into a network of people to discuss issues about making our children thrive, and share your voice.
