Big Buddies with third grade
We auditioned for the roles in the Gingerbread Man Play today after weeks of practicing. There were some great auditions and it was so hard to decide! We even had to ask other teachers and grades to help us. All students did get to choose what role they wanted but, unfortunately, there were a few disappointed friends who did not get their first choice of roles. Students brought home a cast list yesterday and here is a link; https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GkLD43yEJu5TAVMTTBDnQG5dO64XdlHvqmu_40EZO2w/edit?usp=sharing
The performance will be on December 17 at 9:45 AM and 2:45 PM. You are invited to come to either performance time, as fits your schedule.
We listened to a Spanish version of the Gingerbread Man and acted out the story using the Spanish words. We also reviewed color words as we colored a gingerbread man. Next week will be our last week of Spanish for this semester. Spanish will resume in late January.
Students are working diligently on their gingerbread houses. Many students opted to sign up for the competition, however a few decided they would rather not and will be
helping to judge and give prizes to the winners. (We have a gingerbread dog house and reindeer barn as prizes to accompany the winning houses!) All houses will be made at school, out of cardboard. We have placed a few new craft items in loose parts to help with the house decorations. (Feel free to send in items to loose parts for this project! :) Thanks for all your on-going contributions. Loose parts is a favorite center choice where a lot of imagination, creation, and problem solving occurs!)
We finished our shapes unit and started our measurement unit in math this week. The students have been comparing length and height using the terms “shorter than” and “longer than”. We even had a measurement magic show on Wednesday! We will continue with length and height next week.
You may see math homework come home. This is for you to do at home. It does NOT need to be returned to school. Reading bags with books are to be read at home and RETURNED to school the next day IF your child brings a book home. Please do not hesitate to email if you have any questions.
Please contact the office of any change to pick up, as we may not be able to check email during the day before dismissal.
You can always reach Mrs. Zolman at firstname.lastname@example.org and Mrs. Bonaudi at email@example.com with any questions or concerns.
