DEMS DOIN’ DORY DAYS

On Saturday, July 17, a group of enthusiastic Tillamook County Democrats marched with a decorated “float’ in the Pacific City Dory Days parade. It was a chance to let the community know that Democrats are their friends and neighbors and care about their well-being. We adorned a white Ford pickup with an American flag, Oregon flag, Biden-Harris flags, and bright red, white, and blue bunting. Marching ahead of the truck were Dems carrying the Tillamook County Democrats banner and a “In My America, Love Wins” rainbow-colored flag. The interaction with parade-goers was altogether very positive, our “float” and marchers receiving lots of thumbs up, supportive calls , and “thank-yous.”  “I have to admit to being surprised by the reaction of the crowd.  At one point, we rounded a corner and were met with loud applause and cheers, which gave me goosebumps and a reassured sense of support,” said Kim Cavatorta, TillCoDems Treasurer and parade truck driver. The experience was very uplifting and a great way to share the Dems’ message.

We Need Pix!

A picture is worth a thousand words. It’s true! COVID - 19 halted many of the TillCoDEMs’ gatherings, and as a result, pressed pause on our photo collections. We need photos. We want to create a photo storyboard of TillCoDEMs activities. Some of these photos will go on our Facebook and website and tell the story of our work in the community. Pre and post COVID pictures are needed. Please send copies of your photos to: mary.mcginnis05@gmail.com OR text them to 573-280-2160. JPEG format works well, but any format will work.

Looking for a few good Democrats!

Did you know that Precinct Committee Persons (PCPs) are the elected (or appointed) links between your local Democratic Party and your Democratic neighbors?  We have openings for PCPs throughout the county. If you would like to help set the direction for the Tillamook County Democrats and engage fellow Dems, please consider becoming a PCP.  More information and a fillable applicable are available at Tillcodems.org.

YES!!!...The Tillamook County Fair Is a GO!

Come join us by volunteering at the Tillamook County Dems booth!

This year, it is scheduled for August 11 to 14, and we are asking for booth volunteers   again. The Tillamook County Democrats is one of the longest-term vendors to participate in the fair.

Our booth opens at 9:30 am and closes at 10 pm each day

We have four shifts daily, needing two volunteers each.

     Shift 1 - 9:30 am to 1 pm

Shift 2 - 1 pm to 4 pm

Shift 3 - 4 pm to 7 pm

Shift 4 - 7 pm to 10 pm

Both experienced and novices are welcome and needed.

.  It is visible to thousands of fair-goers and many people stop to say they are grateful we are there.

.    The goal for fundraising at the fair is to make enough money through sales and drawing tickets to pay for the expenses of the booth. Donations of older political pins we can sell at the booth will be very much appreciated.  We have bumper stickers too. We are still taking ideas for articles to sell tickets for drawings.  As usual, there will be fun bumper stickers and buttons for sale too. The Fundraising and Events committee will meet on the first Thursday, July 1, at 5 pm, on Zoom to finalize the plans.

Please plan to say hello to your friends and neighbors. Your participation is so valued.  We already have a few volunteers, so hopefully we can work with your schedule. Contact Susan to join in:

 Short Reads of the Month

for July 2021

Our Communications Committee hosts a 40-minute discussion group on Zoom every Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. We talk about all the short articles that have been suggested by Tillamook County Democrats during the week, and at the end of the meeting we choose one or two articles that will be recommended on our website and social media pages as essential reading for every Tillamook County Democrat. Short Read of the Week Meetings are fun and informative, and you’re welcome to join us even if you haven’t read all the items that are up for discussion, or you just want to listen.

These are the articles we chose to recommend this month:
