Open Learning Initiative (OLI) - Delivery Platform

Accessibility Conformance Report

VPAT® Version 2.3 (Revised) - April 2019

Name of Product/Version: OLI Delivery Platform

Product Description: OLI delivers open, adaptive courseware, combining expository content, assessments and interactive activities to create learning experiences that capture learner interaction data to drive feedback loops for learners, educators and researchers. OLI’s delivery is supplemented with learning analytics; the platform can operate in stand-alone mode or via LTI integration.

Date: January 2020

Contact information: oli-help@cmu.edu

Notes: This conformance report focuses exclusively on the affordances and capabilities of the OLI delivery platform and its natively supported content types. Because OLI content is developed and revised by a large, diverse community of educators; specific content within individual courses may not leverage these capabilities in fully conforming ways (these issues are corrected within courses as they are identified). Similarly, many OLI courses incorporate third-party activities (labs, simulations) that may deviate from OLI standards.

OLI constantly strives to ensure that our platform and the content that it delivers is as accessible as possible. However, evolving standards and a diverse community of content contributors will lead to new issues being identified.  We are committed to this work;  as issues are found please report them to oli-help@cmu.edu and we will do our best to ensure we resolve them in a timely manner.

OLI’s Echo Authoring Platform will be reported by a separate VPAT.

Evaluation Methods Used: The information contained in this report is derived from an ongoing set of efforts, including third-party work (formal UDL and accessibility audit by CAST and a variety of reviews by OLI partner institutions) and continuous reviews by the OLI development team with support from CMU’s Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence and Educational Innovation and Office of Disability Resources. This Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) is the result of these combined efforts and is updated as new issues are identified and addressed.

This report covers the degree of conformance for the following accessibility standard/guidelines:
