Note: Drop off begins at 7:15am. Once in the building, students should report to the area designated by an adult. (Gold Gym, White Gym, Etc.). Students eating breakfast may report to the cafeteria.

Note: Students should be picked up at the end of the day at dismissal - 2:50pm.

GETTING STARTED AT JMMS

The transition to 6th grade can be a very new and exciting time, but it also can be a time when we have many questions. This guide is designed to help you successfully navigate your experience at JMMS.

Clinic

If your student is ill and needs to be picked up from the clinic, you will receive a call. When you arrive please go to 1E. (Main Office). Please let office staff know you are picking up your student from the clinic. Our clinic representative will meet you with your student and parents can sign the student out of school at that time. Please bring your ID.

Early Dismissal

Upon return, students will need to sign back in.

Parent Pick Up

If you need to pick up your student AFTER school (after 2:50), enter the Sauder entrance and proceed in a line to the pick up Zone (near the football stadium). Once students are picked up, parents should exit at the Sauder entrance also.

Absent/Absent Work Needed

If your student is going to be absent, please call the middle school to let us know by 8:00 A.M, at 330-830-8034.  Please state the child’s name and their symptoms (required by the health dept.) and how long he/she may be out.

*** For students who are absent, students should check the teacher Polaris pages for missed work.

Medication

If your student needs to take medication during the school day whether for a short period of time or all year, parents should fill out a medication authorization form and return it to the Middle School with your child’s medication. Please follow this link for the 5 Day Over the Counter Form and the Prescription Medication Form.

*** Caution: Parents or Guardians are the only people allowed to transport medication to the clinic. Students are not allowed to transport or possess medication on the school bus or school grounds. If students are found to have medication in their possession, disciplinary consequences may result.

Vacation

If your student will be going on vacation, he or she may request school work to be completed while away. To request school work, please email your student’s teachers.  However, any school work requested prior to vacation is due ON THE DAY THE STUDENT RETURNS.

Parents must send a note into the attendance office 3 days prior to the student’s last day.

First Day Forms

Parents will receive an email with a snapcode to access their child’s forms. The snapcode is like the key to each child’s first day forms for the school year.

This is an online process, so please be on the lookout for that email coming your way. If you do not receive this code by Aug. 16th, please call JMMS at 330-830-8034.

If you need computer access, please call the Main Office to set up an appointment.

Newsletter

A schoolwide newsletter is sent to parents weekly. The newsletter has information about school events, deadlines and community events. If you are not receiving the JMMS Updates newsletter, please contact the office staff at 330-830-8034.
