Assignment 1 - Dynamic Natural Light
Description - Students will creative high-impact images by finding and capturing scenes that include dynamic natural light.
Week 2 - Shooting with an End Goal in Mind
Due Date: Fall - 8/31 | Spring - 1/18
Assignment 2 - Thematic Shooting
Description - Students will create a short series of photos that all adhere to a singular theme.
Week 3 - Finding your Compositions
Due Date: Fall - 9/7 | Spring - 1/25
Assignment 3 - Architectural Photography
Description - Students will create unique and interesting compositions using the interiors and exteriors of buildings.
Week 4 - Visual Storytelling
Due Date: Fall - 9/14 | Spring - 2/1
Assignment 4 - Triptychs
Description - Students will combine 3 photos into one image that tells a story.

Assignment 5 - Finding Interest
Description - With the right perspective, anything can be interesting. Go to a mundane location or find a mundane object and find a way to make it visually interesting.
Week 6 - Achieving a Specific Style

Assignment 6 - Emulating Film
Description - Students will study the characteristics of analog film and attempt to duplicate its look using Lightroom.

Description - Students will analyze the lighting in several photos of their choice and then attempt to recreate them.

Description - Students will choose famous paintings and attempt to recreate them in photos.
Week 9 - Learning from the Masters

Description - Students still select, research, and emulate the style of a famous photographer.
Unit 3 - Exploring Your Artistic Vision

Description - Students will create a short series of photos according to: A) a theme listed in the assignment, B) an assignment from a different level of Photography, or C) or their own theme that has been submitted and approved by the photography instructor.

Description - Students will attempt to create masterful images with the most basic of compositional guidelines: centered compositions.

Assignment 12 - Stereoscopic GIFs
Description - Students will create the illusion of 3 dimensions using multiple images and animation.
Week 13 - Experimental Photography

Assignment 13 - Conceptual/High Art Photography
Description - Students will try their hand at experimental photography to create unique/surreal images.

Description - Students will study and practice the art of food photography.

Description - Students will explore the semi-candid genre of portrait known as lifestyle photography.

Description - Students will practice their event coverage skills by photographing a school sporting event.
Week 18 - Creative Portraiture

Assignment 18 - Brenizer Method Portraits
Description - Students will attempt to recreate the look of old large format film cameras by creating a “bokeh panorama.”

Assignment 20 - Portfolio Update
Description - Students will update their Portfoliobox.net website.
Assignment 21 - Honors Credit
Description - If a student successfully completes all previous assignments, they can attempt to upgrade the credit the receive from this class from a CP weighting to an Honors weighting by successfully completing and submitting two additional assignments. Honors credit is subject to approval by both the photography instructor and the Registrar.
