System Credits are only issued when the YWCA cancels a class. NO make-up classes will be offered.  

YWCA Swim Lesson Descriptions

Baby 1/2: 6 months-23 months: one parent in water with child, child must wear swim diaper

Preschool 1/2: 24 months to 3 years: one parent in water with child, child must wear swim diaper if not potty trained

Kinderswim: 4-5 years: no previous experience; teaches water safety, basic water skills (kicking, floating, breathing, elementary arm strokes)

Little Swimmers: 4-5 years: must have graduated from Kinderswim & have been recommended by Instructor; LS teaches refinement of water skills learned in Kinderswim

Little Swimmers/Level 1-2 Combo: 4-5 years / 6-15 years: Please read Little Swimmers & Level 1-2 swim lesson descriptions

Level 1/2: 6-15 years: no experience, water adaptation. Streamlining front and back, treading, intro to Front Crawl and Backstroke

Level 3 Deep End ONLY: 6-15 years: same as Level 3-4 but only uses deep end of pool                                            

Level 3/4: 6-15 years: uses full length of pool for development of Freestyle (Free Crawl) and Backstroke; intro to Breaststroke, Butterfly, Treading, & Diving

Level 5/6: 6-15 years: Pre-Team skills, working on all four competitive strokes, turns and starts

Developmental Team: 6-15 years: Must have passed Level 5-6; DT teaches enhancement of all competitive strokes, refinement of turns & starts, and encourages working as a team

Adult Beginner: 16-99+ years: Basic Aquatic Skills taught in shallow-end,

Adult Advanced: 16-99+ years: Improve techniques for all strokes with use of full lap lane

Merfolk: 6-16 years: Must be Level 3/4 or above: Swim tests required. Acclimation to tail and adaptive dolphin kick. Surface dives, breaching, and adaptive streamline. Merfolk lore and etiquette. Merfolk must be on deck and ready for class 15 minutes early to don their tail. Must have one adult with them to assist with the process.
