International Fair Trade Christmas Market
You can bring home presents from around the globe and help others at the same
time this holiday season. First Presbyterian Church is joining with Partners for Just
Trade and Equal Exchange to bring an International Fair Trade Christmas Market to
Fulton.
A unique selection of handmade crafts and gifts will be available Saturday,
December 2, at the church on Court Street. You’ll also find food items like coffee, tea,
chocolate, and olive oil. All are crafted by artisans in countries around the world
including Cambodia, Haiti, Hungary, Malawi, Nepal, Peru, and Ukraine.
Partners for Just Trade and Equal Exchange are organizations that work to
ensure artisans are paid fairly for their work and to create economically just,
environmentally sound trade partnerships. The Christmas Market will be open from 8
am to 3 pm on Saturday, December 2, in First Presbyterian’s Fellowship Hall at 718
Court Street.
“We know many people will be in town that day for the Christmas parade,” said
Rev. Aaron White. “We hope many of them will take the opportunity to come inside and
warm up while browsing the incredible items our volunteers have picked for the market.”
While purchases at the Fair Trade Christmas Market will help the international
artisans improve their lives, the impact will be felt here in Fulton as well. “The proceeds
we earn will support First Presbyterian’s mission efforts. That’s money we can put right
back into our community to make a difference here at home,” added Rev. White.
