Job Description: Passion Impact will be running a 6 week paid internship program for students at both Franklin and McDaniel High Schools. The focus of this internship will be to foster the leadership skills and identity development of youth who will help to recruit and be the leaders of their school’s Volunteer Event Program (VEP) and Club. The VEP is an after school program which connects students to their community through monthly civic engagement/volunteer opportunities. In addition to growing the skills needed to be a leader of the VEP, students will also be given the opportunity to engage in college and career development and social justice opportunities. A main focus throughout the program will be to uncover and critically reflect on post high school pathways and options.
A typical week for a Passion Impact High School Intern will include attending a Monday (in-person) group check in meeting and a Thursday (virtual) FHS/MHS specific group meeting. These meetings will serve as check-points on what projects and tasks need to be completed and give time to troubleshoot anything that came up during the week/previous week. In addition to these meetings, interns will be participating in Wednesday workshops (virtual) that will provide an opportunity to grow in identity, social justice knowledge, and career related skills. Outside of these required meetings and workshops, interns will dictate their own hours spent working on projects and tasks that are assigned each week. They will work with other interns on these projects and meet with them to complete any group work as needed. We have estimated that interns will be spending roughly 13.5 hours a week participating in meetings and completing projects on their own.
