Springfield Research Intern/Practicum Student
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Research Intern/Practicum Student will be the driving force behind PROMO’s ongoing research projects. This person will be the lead on National and statewide research affecting LGBTQ populations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Strong commitment to equality and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons
- Ability to work independently with direction, as well as understanding a team dynamic
- Ability to see the ‘big picture’ and adapt accordingly to establish tangible, measurable results
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to listen and receive constructive feedback
- Commitment to confidentiality
- Commitment to respecting others in diverse, multicultural environments
- Previous research experience
- Strong writing, oral, and overall communication skills
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to manage the daily functions of an office
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Experience working within the LGBTQ community or within LGBTQ advocacy
- Experience in Microsoft programs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Database management and entry
- Presenting on current findings and LGBTQ health, employment, housing, and criminal trends
- Represent PROMO professionally at events and tabling opportunities, including Pride Festivals mentioned above, volunteer fairs, and coalition events.
- Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, and respect for, those of other cultures and backgrounds.
- Represent PROMO at coalition meetings
Administrative Development Internship/Practicum
POSITION OVERVIEW: Work alongside PROMO’s Field Organizer in Springfield to further the growing systemic needs of the organization. This person will promote the mission of PROMO by organizing volunteers, producing events, and cultivating donors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Update the PROMO Database when necessary
- Assist with event production and planning
- Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for development
- Assist preparing acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.

- Conduct research on potential donors.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external use.
- Contact and organize volunteers for various events.
- Assist with mailings, filing, and special projects as needed

Pride Internship/Practicum
POSITION OVERVIEW: Work alongside PROMO’s Field Organizer to organize PROMO’s presence at the Pride Festivals statewide from April or May - August.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with the field and communication team to develop a theme for Pride season
- Recruiting and scheduling Team PROMO volunteers for Pride festivals through phone calls, email, and Google Forms sign-on.
- Understanding and developing talking points for Team PROMO volunteers.
- Tabling at Greater Ozarks Pridefest, Joplin Pride, Pulaski County Pride, and any additional Pride assistance needed.
- Represent PROMO professionally at events and tabling opportunities, including Pride Festivals mentioned above, volunteer fairs, and coalition events.
- Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, and respect for, those of other cultures and backgrounds.
- Educating and informing community members on issues continuing to impact Missouri’s LGBTQ community.
- Engaging in petition data entry.
- Organizing a volunteer appreciation night following Pride.
- Ability to communicate with equality supporters for several hours in hot temperature conditions.
