Reports  on  the  death  and  funeral  of  Pte  John  William  McCall,  2nd Battalion,  The  Duke  of Lancaster’s Own Yeomanry (sic), who died in Kendal Hospital the previous Wednesday.

Pte McCall, the son of Mr W. McCall, newsagent, of Earnshaw Bridge, was highly respected in the neighbourhood. A detachment from the deceased’s Company was present at the ceremony which was conducted by the Rev. T. Huntington, Vicar. (Précis).

Report of the funeral of Pte J. W. McCall which took place on Saturday afternoon at Farington Parish Church etc. A Captain and four privates from the deceased’s Company were present etc, etc. (A longish report that I did not have time to copy but only included information that was in the Chorley Weekly News report).

Trooper John McCall, Duke of Lancaster’s Yeomanry, has died in Kendal Hospital and was buried at Farington Church by the Rev. C. H. Dyer (this last is at variance with the C.W.N. report).

His parents names ‘William and Margaret McCall’ were above John William’s on the grave.

Died of Sickness Sept. 1st., 1915, age 25. Son of Mr and Mrs William McCall of Earnshaw Bridge, Leyland Lane, Leyland, Preston. Grave No. 79, in north-east corner of the cemetery.
