Instructions for signing into a course using your mobile phone. This step is to claim attendance only and may require an evaluation for credit.

SMS Text Messaging

Note: These instructions assume that you have an active account in MiCME. If you do not, please set up your account first. (Instructions Here if needed)

Note: Recording attendance is available 30 minutes prior to the activity, during the activity or 1 week after the activity. Credit can only be claimed up to one week after the date of the activity.

*Please reach out to the Activity Coordinator of the activity attended if you have missed this deadline.

Step 1: To pair your mobile phone to your MiCME account.

• Text the email address associated with your MiCME profile, to (877) 828-9687.

Note: For UM accounts this will be your uniquename@umich.edu

• You will receive a text message that your phone number has been updated.

• This process will register your mobile phone for this and all future courses. (Only needs to be completed once.)

Step 2:  To record your attendance for an activity. (Must be completed for each individual course/session.)

• Text the Activity ID or Activity Code that has been provided by the Activity Coordinator

Note:  If using iOS (iPhone), you must text an SMS text message not an iMessage.

• You will receive a text message that verifies activity attendance has been recorded.

Troubleshooting Scenarios

1. You will receive an incomplete profile text message if you try to text your attendance and have a missing Degree and/or Profession in your profile. Please complete the fields in your MiCME profile before texting attendance.

2. You can only record attendance once to an activity. If you try to record attendance an additional time, you will receive the following text message.

3. If you attempt to record your attendance to an activity for which you are not registered, you will receive the following text message.
