‘PICKING UP’ and RECORDING OF SCORES

2025 GAME DESCRIPTIONS

FOUR PERSON SCRAMBLE: Four-person team event in which each player hits her tee shot and the best shot is selected. All hit from the selected shot and again the best shot is selected. This process continues until the ball is holed out. For four person teams, at least 3 tee shots of each player must be used. For three person teams, at least 2 tee shots of each player must be used. Three person teams will rotate players who may take an extra chip and putt on each green.

INDIVIDUAL NET STABLEFORD: On each hole, record points based on your net score. Points are awarded based on NET score: Bogey = 1, Par = 2, Birdie = 3, Eagle = 4, and Double Eagle = 8. You may pick up if points are 0 (when you know your net score will be double bogey or greater).

LOW NET FRONT/LOW NET BACK: Individual. Record gross and net score on each hole. If you pick up, you will not be eligible for points.

ONE NET ODD/ONE GROSS EVEN: Two-person team. Record best net score on odd numbered holes (1, 3, 5 etc.); record best gross score on even numbered holes (2, 4, 6 etc.).

WALTZ 1-2-3: Four-person team. Use one net score on the first hole, two net scores on the second hole, three net scores on the third hole. Repeat this order throughout the remainder of the holes; one net on the fourth hole, two nets on the fifth hole, three nets on the sixth hole, etc.

TWO BEST BALLS: Four-person team. Total the best two net scores on each hole for your team score. You may pick up if your score will not be used.

FLAGS - RED, WHITE & YELLOW: Four-person team. Use three net scores on Red flag holes, two net scores on White flag holes and one net score on Yellow flag holes. You may pick up if your score will not be used.

ALTERNATE SHOT: Two-person team. Player A will always tee off on odd numbered holes (1, 3, 5, 7 etc.) and Player B will hit the second shot, then Player A will hit the third shot; continue alternating shots until the ball is holed. Player B will always tee off on even numbered holes (2, 4, 6, 8 etc.) and Player A will hit the second shot, then Player B will hit the third shot; continue alternating shots until the ball is holed.

LOW GROSS FRONT/LOW GROSS BACK: Individual - Gold Tees. Record gross score on each hole. If you pick up, you will not be eligible for points.

NET PARS: Individual. Record your gross and net score on each hole. Each net par or better is worth one point. Maximum points is 18.

CRUSH CANCER SCRAMBLE: Two-person scramble. Record the team scramble score for the game.

TEAM NET STABLEFORD: Three or four-person team. On each hole, record points based on your net score. Total points for all players for your team score. Points are awarded based on NET score: Bogey = 1, Par = 2, Birdie = 3, Eagle = 4, and Double Eagle = 8. You may pick up if points are 0 (when you know your net score will be double bogey or greater). Four-person teams will divide total team points by four and three-person teams will divide total team points by three.

TWO NET EVEN/TWO GROSS ODD: Four-person team. Record the best two net scores on even numbered holes (2, 4, 6, 8 etc.). Record the best two gross scores on odd numbered holes (1, 3, 5, 7 etc.).

MODIFIED CHAPMAN: Two-person team. Each team member hits a tee shot; teammates then switch balls after the tee shot and each hits a second shot; then the team selects one ball after the second shot and they play alternate shot in until the ball is holed. The third shot is played by teammate whose second shot was not selected. (At this point you should be hitting your own ball.) Cannot move or switch balls.

HSV WGA SUMMER SWING: Two day, two-person best ball event—low gross/low net. This is not considered a WGA 18-Hole Play Day.

SIXES: Four-person team. Use three net scores on par 3s, two net scores on par 4s and one net score on par 5s.

WALTZ 1-2-3: Four-person team. Use one net score on the first hole, two net scores on the second hole, three net scores on the third hole. Repeat this order throughout the remainder of the holes; one net on the fourth hole, two nets on the fifth hole, three nets on the sixth hole, etc.

THROW OUT TWO HOLES: Individual. Record your gross and net score on each hole. After the round, throw out one score on the front and one score on the back.

LOW NET ODD / LOW NET EVEN: Individual - Gold Tees. Record your gross and net score for each hole. Total all net scores for odd numbered holes (1, 3, 5, 7 etc.); total all net scores for even numbered holes (2, 4, 6, 8 etc.).

1-1-2 BEST BALL: Two-person team. Record one net score on the first hole, one net score on the second hole and two net scores on the third hole. Repeat this order throughout the remainder of the holes; one net on the fourth hole, one net on the fifth hole, two nets on the sixth hole, etc.

ONE NET & ONE GROSS: Four-person team. Record one net score and one gross score on each hole for your team score. Cannot be the same person.

FAIRWAYS & GREENS: Individual. Record your gross score on each hole. Record one point for each fairway you hit with your tee shot on par 4s & 5s or greens on par 3s. Record one point for each green you hit in regulation on par 4s & 5s. Maximum points possible is 32.  Everyone will play from the orange tees.

TWO BEST BALLS: Four-person team. Total the best two net scores on each hole for your team score. You may pick up if your score will not be used.

LOW GROSS/LOW NET CHAMPIONSHIP: Individual. Record your gross and net scores. No pick-ups.

THROW OUT THREE HOLES: Individual. Record your gross and net score on each hole. After the round, throw out one par 3 score, one par 4 score and one par 5 score.

MEMBER/MEMBER: Two-person team. Play five 9-hole match play rounds. Three matches are played on the first day and two matches on the second day. Sign-up details will be published later.

NOTES:

CPU (Can Pick Up):  Y/S in the CPU column indicates that you may pick up if you are not counting your score on that hole for that day’s game. You are not required to pick up, but you are encouraged to pick up if you are out of the game on that hole and your group has fallen behind. NA in the CPU column means ‘not applicable.’  See more detailed pick-up explanations in game descriptions where applicable.

AB:  This is an individual game in which all A players play together and all B players play together. Letters are listed in the order of play. AB means A players will tee off first, then B players.  BA means B players will tee off first, then A players.

aabb:  This is a four-person team game consisting of two players from each flight.

aa/bb:  This is a foursome consisting of two 2-person teams. The two A flight players will play as a two-person team and the two B flight players will play as a two-person team in the same foursome.

aa/aa: This is a foursome consisting of two 2-person teams, all A flight players.

bb/bb: This is a foursome consisting of two 2-person teams, all B flight players.

aaaa/bbbb or bbbb/aaaa:  This is a four-person team game consisting of four players from the same flight.  Letters are listed in the order of play. aaaa/bbbb means A players will tee off first, then B players.  bbbb/aaaa indicates B players will tee off first, then A players.
