CHILD MINDING POLICY

RATIONALE
Geraldine Preschool acknowledges that some whānau do not have relatives or friends living close by to help them with the care of their tamariki outside of centre opening hours. Whilst we are professional kaiako we may provide private childcare for tamariki enrolled at Geraldine Preschool. The following procedures ensure that professional boundaries are identified and adhered to.
TE WHĀRIKI
Belonging/ Mana Whenua - Goal 4: Whānau and kaiako experience an environment where they know they know the limits and boundaries of acceptable behaviour.
PROCEDURES
- Whānau and kaiako must be aware of these procedures before undertaking any private childcare arrangements.
- Discussions pertaining to private tamaiti care arrangements must be made outside of the kaiako hours of employment at Geraldine Preschool.
- Kaiako dropping off or collecting tamariki from the centre must be identified on the tamaiti enrolment form as an authorised person and have a discover sign in/out code.
- If kaiako are transporting tamariki enrolled at Geraldine Preschool to or from the centre as part of their private childcare arrangements, they will only do so in a registered vehicle with a current warrant of fitness that has appropriate safety restraints as per NZTA regulations. They will have the appropriate current drivers license.
- Kaiako will endeavour to continue to park in the staff car park leaving the main car park area for whānau.
- Whānau and kaiako undertaking private childcare arrangements must not discuss Geraldine Preschool business and must remain mindful of confidentiality at all times. Unprofessional or inappropriate sharing of information will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.
- Kaiako who undertake private childcare must not allow this to affect their Geraldine Preschool role. Kaiako must drop off and pick up tamariki they caring for outside of their rostered hours.
- Geraldine Preschool will not be held accountable for any issues that may arise from private childcare arrangements.
