Political Burlesque Show Reveals More Than Just Skin

The Body Political, A Subversive Burlesque and Variety Show, Makes Its Denver Debut on February 23rd

The Body Political is an annual burlesque and variety show. Performers from all over the country confront social myths about bodies through personal stories of resistance and reclamation. The cast explores topics such as: gender, racial justice, age, weight/body type, trans visibility, sexuality, body positivity, and consent.

This show has been praised by audiences as “hands-down the best and most resonant burlesque show I have ever seen” and “one of the most inspiring, powerful, and meaningful nights of my life”. Thrillist called it, “a deep dive into the ways bodies are controlled, denied, and marginalized by social and political institutions.”

Co-producer Laika Fox says, “We see The Body Political as more than a show. It’s an opportunity for the audience to connect to another person’s experience and understand the complexities of our identities and our bodies.”

The Body Political will take place at The Clocktower Cabaret on Friday, February 23rd. Tickets start at $35 with VIP options and can be purchased at
