Llewellyn Elementary Counseling & Mental Health Program
Dear Families,
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, I am Ms. Brittany, and I am so excited to start the 2024-25 school year, and can’t wait to build relationships with and get to know your children better.
We would like to begin by introducing Llewellyn’s Counseling and Mental Health Team. This year we have Kate Knochel joining the counseling team.
Ms. Brittany Hi, my name is Brittany Sill-Turner, or Ms. Brittany according to your kids! I am excited to begin my 8th year as Llewellyn’s school counselor and to work alongside our newest counselor, Kate. This is my 11th year working in public education. Prior to working in education, I was self-employed and co-owned a pizza restaurant. A little bit about me: I grew up in the lovely town of Lake Chelan, Washington. I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, husband, my son Bodhi (4 years) and our two kitties! I spend my time off reading, enjoying the outdoors, watching movies and TV, exploring my new neighborhood and making homemade pizza. I earned my Masters in School Counseling at Lewis and Clark in 2018. Throughout my time at Lewis and Clark, through my internships, I have experience working with children from kindergarten to high school. My priorities as your child’s School Counselor is to help them understand the relationship between schooling and their future success by supporting their ability to build positive relationships, reach their goals and develop tools and strategies to work through challenges. I look forward to supporting all students, and specifically working with Kindergarten - 3rd grade students. If your child is having any specific issues currently please reach out to me. Let’s have an amazing 2024-2025 school year! | Ms. Kate Hello Llewellyn Community! My name is Kate Knochel (Ms. K to the students) and I am the new part time counselor at LLewellyn. I am thrilled to be working at Llewellyn this year. This is my eleventh as a school counselor and sixteenth year in education, prior to school counseling I taught high school and middle school language arts. I was the school counselor at Jackson Middle School for eight years and then became the part time counselor at Markham Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year. I am a PPS parent as well. I have a 2nd grader at Stephenson Elementary and a 4yr old in her last year of preschool. I am a parent just like all of you, doing the best I can to raise kind and thoughtful children. One of my priorities as a school counselor, especially with the 4th and 5th graders is to build resiliency. When students have resilience they also develop a sense of self worth and are able to negotiate the middle school years with self-confidence. I look forward to supporting your 4th and 5th grade students. If your child is having any specific issues currently please reach out to me. You can call me at 503-916-6216 email me at kknochel@pps.net. Let’s have a fabulous 2024-2025 school year! |
We all need help every now and then. The mission of our school counseling program is to support all students by providing a comprehensive, student-centered, guidance program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development to create confident and successful members of society. Llewellyn’s counseling program is based on the beliefs that:
• All students have the right to participate in a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate school counseling program that engages them.
• All students benefit from a strong home/school partnership.
• All students have the right to be exposed to culturally responsive methods and teaching practices (pedagogy) that foster respect for diversity.
The school mental health team works with and supports students at three different levels:
All Students (Tier I)
Some Students (Tier II)
