Summer 2018 Newsletter 3

11th May 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you have had a lovely bank holiday weekend and made the most of the beautiful weather.

You will be pleased to know that Mrs Batcock is now making a very good recovery,  however she is signed off until July. Miss Tobin and Mr Isherwood continue to be Acting Head teachers in her absence so please get in touch with either of us if there is anything you need to discuss.

Uniform Change

This is an advance notice that from September we will be moving to just the blue uniform. We will be informing Birds of Dereham to no longer supply the red. We wanted you to know well in advance before you start getting anything new in for the new school year.

New library goes down a storm!

We were so excited a couple of weeks ago to officially open our new school library and honoured to have well known children’s author Julia Jarman to read us one of her stories and cut the ribbon. The children are really enjoying having such fantastic new facilities and so many new books to read. A special thank you to Mrs Button, Mrs Billman and FONES for all of their efforts in making this a reality.

SIAMS Inspection

Before Easter we were visited by inspectors from the diocese to carry out a SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspection. This is a bit like an Ofsted inspection but looks at the Christian character of the school and how our Christian values underpin everything we do. We were so very pleased to be awarded a ‘Good’ which recognised all of the hard work put in by staff over the past year to develop our church school community.

This has very much been a team effort though special recognition needs to go to Miss Hardingham and Mrs Barber for their incredible contributions.

If you are parents of children in Y2 or Y6 I am sure you will be aware of the SATs coming up next week. The children and staff have been working very hard in preparation. Though we don’t want the children to get themselves unduly worried we do want them to be able to do their best so we ask that they have a calm week at home and get a decent night’s sleep every day.

The Governors are calling!

Are you interested in playing a part in how the school is run? Then becoming a governor might be for you! Please contact Robert Warner on chairofgovs

In order to improve communication, don’t forget to sign up to receive email alerts from our school website. The website has upcoming dates, day to day events and our newsletters to help keep you informed.

Upcoming Events

  • Week beginning 14 May - Y2 and Y6 SATs week
  • 26 May - 3 June - Half Term
  • 19 June - Sheep class Sheringham Park Trip (with Stibbard)
  • 21 June - Sports Day
  • 22 June - End of year reports

As the weather improves and we are starting to see more sunshine, don’t forget to apply sun cream to your child before they arrive at school. Sun cream can be brought to school but must be labelled. Children should also have a sun hat for playtimes.

We appreciate your support and cooperation to help things run smoothly and safely.

Many thanks,

Sue Tobin and Craig Isherwood
