Academic Eligibility

Participants are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to stay eligible for the tournament. EVERY progress report counts. If a participant’s GPA drops below a 2.0 GPA during the tournament, he/she will not be eligible to participate on their team until the coach can verify the GPA is back above 2.0.

Team Rosters

Each team must have 7 players on the roster. 6 players need to play the match.

Match Procedures

Match Days

Match Lengths

Matches are played as a best of 3 in the Qualifying Tournament and best of 5 for the Championship. Format is subject to change based on how many teams are participating and scheduling after-school and evening match times.

Match Scheduling
The HOME TEAM and AWAY TEAM are listed on the match schedule at highschool.gg/rbusd.

Game Lobby

The HOME TEAM will create the lobby and the AWAY TEAM will determine which team starts as red/blue in the first game. The match settings to be used are the most recent competitive rules preset with the following settings adjusted:

In the event that an incorrect ruleset is loaded on the server, the match should be stopped and reset. Previously played maps with incorrect format will not count towards the series.

Behavior Policy

The use of hateful, offensive, profane, or vulgar language is not allowed during or in relation to the Downey Unified Esports Tournament. This includes in public and private conversations in the chat room, profiles, feedback section, discussion boards, and more.

Cheating Policy

No additional anti-cheat client is required for official matches. Any cheating of any form will result in immediate disqualification of the player and team involved. It is the responsibility of the team captain to make sure anyone on the team is not cheating.

Role Lock is enforced.

Restrictions

Any heroes, skins, sprays, voice lines, emotes, victory poses, highlight intros, or maps that are currently disabled in the competitive game mode are prohibited from use in official matches.

Stoppage of Play

The game may only be paused for the following reasons:

●   Player drop

●   Player disconnect

●   Server crash

●   Technical issues

Stoppage of play may be requested at any time for the above reasons. The match host (person who created the match lobby and therefore has pausing privileges) must initiate a pause when a team requests it, so long as the pause is not called during combat, while the objective is contested, or during overtime. Each team will have 5 total minutes of pause time per map. Players pause the game using the key combination Ctrl + Shift + =. Abuse of the auto-pause feature may result in punishment for the team abusing it.

Controllers

Any keyboard and mouse or controller can be used for the PC version of Overwatch.

Tournament Standings & Tiebreak Procedure

Standings for each school are based on which team has the best win/loss record, followed by amounts of map wins and map losses, followed by head-to-head. For example, if two teams are tied at 5-1 with a 15-3 map record, then whichever team won the match between those two teams would be ranked higher.
