Old Business: Consent Agenda passed, including the resolution to accept the Local Waste Services residential waste management proposal.
New Business: ORDINANCE 2025-4500 – First Reading - An ordinance to amend various chapters of city ordinances to close the loopholes on "extended stay" hotels being able to be converted into apartments without going through a rezoning process.
Prior to the council meeting, there was a public hearing regarding closing various loopholes in local ordinances that allow "extended stay" hotel properties to become apartments without being rezoned. An example of this occurring in Etna (Drayton Hall) was cited.
Mayor Compton spoke about the value of the Licking County River Roundup and its mission of cleaning and protecting the Licking River and its tributaries. Mayor Compton proclaimed September 6th, 2025, as the 30th annual River Roundup event.
