Consistory Meeting Minutes

September 27, 2022 7 p.m.

Meeting called to order by Rev. Cari Pattison

Attendance Rev. Cari Pattison, Elders: Shannon Godfrey, Annette Lavalle, Sandra Todd, James Ulrich (by zoom), Deacons: Michael Cooter, Edward Jabs, Michael Terner

Opened by prayer led by Rev. Pattison; scripture 1 Corinthians 8 read by Rev. Pattison

Purpose of special meeting: To determine the feasibility of calling a full-time pastor.

Rev. Pattison was excused. Meeting was then chaired by VP Annie Lavalle.

        

Multifaceted discussion ensued concerning state of current budget, Pastor Cari’s salary, the comparisons of Classis vs Presbyteria salaries, donors for the cost of the change from ¾ to full time pastor, congregational donations for the increased cost, plans for stewardship campaign, etc. All joined in the discussion which was amicable. All praised the work done by expense bookkeeper Sandra Todd to assemble all figures for the discussion.

Motion made by Jim Ulrich and seconded by Sandy Todd to carefully ask the congregation to support calling a full-time pastor by increasing pledges by 25%. Passed

Motion made by Ed Jabs and seconded by Sandy Todd to ask Rev. Cari to assume the full-time position as pastor at WRC. The salary offered is $55,000 plus housing. This would add approximately $25,000 to current budget for salary and benefits.      Passed

Motion made by Ed Jabs and seconded by Mike Cooter to require all requests for expenditure reimbursement to be submitted by the 15th of the month following the expenditure. If requests are not submitted by this date, the reimbursement would be denied. Reimbursements would be paid by the end of the month in which they were submitted. passed

Annie Lavalle was asked to contact Rev. Cari about the revised call.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:35pm with prayer led by Annie LaValle.
