Year 10 Parents Evening Wednesday 12th June 2024  3pm-6pm

Dear Parent/Carer

On Wednesday 12th June we will be holding our second face to face Year 10 Parents’ evening this academic year.  At this event you will have the opportunity to speak with your child’s teachers to discuss their progress to date, and receive advice on how best to support your child in order to achieve their full potential in their up and coming end of year mock examinations.  You will receive your child’s progress report in advance of the event.  

This event will be held in school at John Henry Newman Catholic College, and the school is continuing to use the  School Cloud system online to book the appointments.  This allows you to choose your own appointment times with your child’s teachers, for which you will receive a confirmation email with your appointment times to speak to your teachers in school face to face.

The appointments will last for 6 minutes, there will be a sound when the time is up at which point the consultation will be finished.  Appointments are made through our online booking system from 3pm on Thursday 30th May 2024 up until the day of the event itself.

How long should students spend studying?

At least 2 hours of study outside the classroom per day. This equates to a minimum of 10 hours of study per school week.

A suggestion for study time:

• 2 hours per evening on a week day (10 hours per week)
• 2 hours on a Saturday & Sunday (4 hours per week)

This represents 14 hours of study per week.

We require all students to be proactive with their independent study and dedicate time outside of school to give themselves the best opportunity for success.
