Social/Emotional Learning
Week of April 13th
Topic: Perseverance (Resilience)
Recommended for 3rd-5th
Our lives are very different than they were several weeks ago. We are all having to get use to these changes daily. This is our new “normal” for the time being. It is hard on us when we can’t go to school and see our friends and teachers. We miss recess and the lunchroom. We miss running, yelling, and playing in the gym. You could be feeling almost anything from frustrated to bored. Some of these changes may cause us to feel worried, anxious, or stressed. During our most challenging times, it is important to keep on trying and never give up. What we are talking about is called perseverance. Perseverance means the act or power of continuing to do something in spite of difficulties. In other words, to TRY and keep on trying until you succeed. We have shown that we are resilient when we persevere. Being resilient means we can recover from or adjust easily to change. We “bounce” back. This week’s lessons are to help you keep going with things even though they might be different or hard. You can do it! We believe in you! TRY is a word that changes everything! Hang in there!
