Dear OHS Students and Families of the Class of 2022,

Alright, here we go… it’s time to talk GRADUATION! Time flies, and we will soak up every last minute we have together, but it is necessary to start planning for the completion of your high school journey. Over the next few months, we will help prepare you for your transition from high school to whatever post-high school pathway you select. This is undoubtedly an exciting time in your life, and our team is ready to support you in any way possible. Below you will find important information, dates, and some initial details about the 2022 Commencement Ceremony.

Post-High School Readiness Workshops

In the coming weeks, all seniors will take a brief survey to identify specific supports needed as we prepare to begin your transition to an apprenticeship, 4-year college, 2-year college, the military, or the workforce. Sometime this winter, we will offer workshops to support your next steps. These workshops will include:

The Class of 2022 Commencement Ceremony

The Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2022 is scheduled to occur at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Rux Stadium at OHS. This ceremony typically takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. In late April, we will send out more specific details.

It is a long-standing tradition in our community to host this event outside. However, in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms, we will not be able to set up or use electrical equipment. To ensure the safety of our community, students, and staff we may need to delay the start of the ceremony if the weather forecast calls for rain or thunderstorms.

In the event of inclement weather, we will announce a delayed start time for the ceremony. If the rain or storms persist throughout the day, the ceremony will be postponed until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, and will occur at OHS in Rux Stadium, or if necessary, in the Gale Douglas Field House. Either way, we would still be able to allow for unlimited guests

for each graduate. Please consider this information and share it with others as you begin to make initial party and travel plans. In addition, we will livestream the ceremony so that families and friends who cannot attend will still be able to participate.

Again, please know that our entire team is ready to support you in this important transition. Our staff looks forward to celebrating your accomplishments and will be here to continue to guide our students in their last few months of high school. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact your counselor or send me an email at CurtisJ@oasd.org.

Thank you!

Jason
