Accessibility

Flora Borealis installations are dispersed throughout the Garden. Walking is the primary means of viewing the exhibit. Just over one mile of walking is required to experience every element, though visitors are welcome to customize what they view on the path. Paths are one way. Visitors may repeat the walk as many times as they like. Benches will be available along the path. To ensure visitor safety, trams will not be in operation.

Advanced Tickets

Visitors are encouraged to select a date and purchase their tickets for that date in advance as many entry times will sell out quickly. Please visit www.mobot.org/flora to purchase tickets at any time of day.

Animals

No pets are allowed at Flora Borealis. Assistance animals are welcome at the Garden during Flora Borealis. Please review these guidelines to help ensure the best visit with a service animal.

Alcohol

Outside food and beverage are not permitted during Flora Borealis. There are many opportunities to purchase food, beverage, and spirits throughout the experience.

Baby Changing Areas

Changing areas are located in Ridgway Visitors Center, Edward Jones Hall (Calming Area), Spink Pavilion and Museum Building restroom areas.

Biergarten

Join us nightly from 6 p.m. until close in our newly tented Biergarten on Linnean Plaza. The Biergarten features an assortment of beverages and food items. Sit back, relax, and enjoy backyard activities, a cold beverage, and live music on select nights.

Concessions

Food and Beverage is available for purchase during Flora Borealis.

  • Biergarten on Linnean Plaza
  • Enjoy snacks, salads, an assortment of small plate items (grilled items available), and nightly specials.
  • Full bar is available including beer, wine, and the Signature Flora Borealis cocktail.
  • Botany Bar – Located along the South side of the Climatron
  • The perfect spot for a refill while you make your way through the Flora Borealis
  • Grab-and-go snack items and cold drinks available throughout the evening

Conservatories Closed

Flora Borealis is primarily an outdoor event. The Climatron will be open for visitors and is a key part of the experience.

Other buildings and conservatories including the Temperate House, Linnean House, Kemper Center, Brookings Exploration Center, and the Children’s Garden will be closed. Garden paths outside of the Flora Borealis flow of traffic will be closed for safety.

Elevator

Located inside Ridgway Visitors Center. The elevator is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Looking for the ultimate romantic location for your wedding proposal? The Missouri Botanical Garden is a beautiful place and Flora Borealis at night is no exception.

Please make your reservations at least one week in advance of your desired date. We are not able to accommodate walk-ins for these benefits.

Garden Gate Shop

The Garden Gate Shop is open during Flora Borealis. Satellite locations offer Flora Borealis-themed merchandise.

Hours – 6 to 11 p.m.

Daytime visitors will be escorted from the Garden at 5 p.m. Guests wishing to view Flora Borealis must purchase tickets. All daytime visitors must exit the Garden at 5 p.m. even if they have Flora Borealis tickets for the same night. All Flora Borealis ticket holders will be admitted beginning at 6 p.m.

It is encouraged to arrive on garden grounds for ticket scanning at least 15 minutes prior to the time listed on your ticket.  

TIP:  The Flora Borealis experience generally lasts around 1 hour from your designated entry time. Enjoy the Show!

Lost and Found

Please keep your personal items with you at all times. The Garden cannot be held responsible for missing items. If you recover an item on the ground that does not belong to you, please turn it in to the Ridgway Visitor Center Lost & Found at the ticket counter. To reach the Lost & Found desk, call (314) 577-0212.

Lasers

Flora Borealis does feature cutting-edge technology. The Aurora display includes a 3-minute-30-second laser.  It is important follow the guidelines below during this show:

  • Do not directly touch or look at the laser lights
  • Please stay on the path the entire time.
  • Do not place children on an adult’s shoulders at any time.
  • Lasers can damage your camera or phone. Please refrain from using these devices in the Gladney Rose Garden (Aurora) zone only.

Memberships

Did you know you can apply a portion of your Flora Borealis ticket toward the price of a membership at Flora Borealis? Visit the Membership Services Desk on the first floor of Ridgway Visitor Center for more details.

All members receive discounted pricing on admission. Members at the Festival Level or higher receive free tickets to Flora Borealis and Garden Glow.

Garden memberships will also be available for purchase during Flora Borealis. Visit the Membership Services desk in the lobby of the Ridgway Visitor Center to learn more.  

Monopods

To ensure everyone’s safety, monopods and tripods are not allowed during Flora Borealis. Please check our class listing for the chance to use camera aided devices while filming the show.

Parking

Free public parking is available at the Ridgway Visitor Center and at lots two blocks west at the corner of Shaw and Vandeventer. Please respect our neighbors and refrain from parking on neighborhood residential streets. View parking map.

Photography

Photos of Flora Borealis are allowed for personal use only. Photos cannot be used for commercial purposes. Please refer to our complete photography policy for more information. Monopod, tripods, and selfie sticks are not permitted during Flora Borealis as pathways must remain clear.

CAMARAS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE AURORA LASER SHOW INSTALLATION

Renewable Energy

Many of the exhibit’s highly efficient LED lights are solar powered. In addition, the electricity used for Flora Borealis has been offset with Renewable Energy Certificates from a Missouri wind farm through the Ameren Missouri Pure Power program. 

Restrooms

The bathrooms in the Ridgway Visitor Center, Spink Pavilion, Brookings Interpretive Center, and Peter Sachs Museum Building are available for Flora Borealis visitors.  Please follow the map to location nearest to you.

Selfie Sticks

Selfie sticks are prohibited on Garden Grounds. Visitors will be asked to check them at the Visitor Information Desk and collect upon exiting the facility.

Sustainability

The Garden takes every precaution when protecting the environment. All trash is collected and separated into compostable, recyclable or landfill receptacles to reduce impact.

Ticket Information

Tickets are date-specific and will be sold in limited quantities. There will be a capacity cap each night and we expect sellouts. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to ensure they get to see the exhibit on the night of their choice. 

TIP: Mondays and Tuesdays are ideal for those hoping to avoid larger crowds.

If you purchased your tickets in advance, you will proceed inside the Ridgway Visitor Center to have your tickets scanned for entry.

All members receive a discounted price on admission. Members at the Festival Level or higher receive free tickets to Flora Borealis. Garden memberships will also be available for purchase during Glow. Visit the Membership Services desk in the lobby of the Ridgway Visitor Center to learn more.  

Tripods

Tripods and monopods are not allowed during Flora Borealis. Visitors will be asked to check or return them to a vehicle upon entry.

Visitor Information Desk

Located on the 1st Floor of the Ridgeway Visitors Center. Visitors can pick up maps, receive first aid, request security, request wheelchairs or rent scooters, and have general ticketing/event inquiries answered.

Weather

In case of severe weather, an announcement will be made via social media and on our website the night of the scheduled event. You may also call the Garden's main number for a weather update: (314) 577-5100. In the event the Garden cancels the event due to extreme weather conditions, guests with tickets for that date may use their tickets for admission on another valid date.  No refunds will be issued; redemption based on availability. 

Tickets purchased in advance for a Flora Borealis evening may be exchanged for another valid event evening for the value of the purchased ticket.  No exchange fee will be charged for event cancelation exchanges. No refunds will be given. 

Wheelchairs
A limited number of wheelchairs and motorized scooters are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own wheelchairs, scooters or strollers.  

Flora Borealis is a one-mile outdoor walking experience. Please plan accordingly.

Will Call
Located at the main ticket windows during event hours. Will call will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on event dates. A valid ID is required to claim tickets.
