TRANSFORMUS CITY PLANNING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General Policies

Can I bring an RV to Transformus?

All RV's must be registered through the Theme Camps application because all RV’s will be placed by the Department of City Planning. All RV's are required to be decorated & disguised. RV camping is a privilege, not a right - to be allowed the right to camp with an RV, your RV must be decorated to “participate” as a part of the canvas of Mysteria.

ALL RVs allowed on site will be limited to the Department of City Planning approval.

Are buses allowed in Marvin’s Mountaintop?

While these rules are guidelines, remember that all vehicles are subject to Department of City Planning (DCP) approval. We generally allow buses if 1) the vehicle will be stationary throughout the event, AND 2) it is intended for public space.

What if I need my vehicle for medical reasons?

Department of City Planning (DCP) will allow vehicles for medical reasons, if properly registered with the DCP and with the Accessibility Team (Accessibility@transformus.com). ALL vehicles needed for medical considerations will be subject to Department of City Planning approval.

I’m not planning to be part of a Theme Camp this year, but I’d like to bring a large vehicle. How can I submit a request to the DCP for consideration?

Send us an email at cityplanning@transformus.com that includes the following information:

(Please note that tow vehicles will not be allowed to stay on-site during the event, but must be moved out to the parking lot with all other vehicles.)

Theme Camp Applications

Can I save the application form and finish it later?

NO - Unfortunately, the form has to be completed in one go. However, FORTUNATELY, we’ve provided the questions for you in a separate document under the Department of City Planning section on the Transformus website. Go to the Mysteria tab> Theme Camps tab> Theme Camp registration & info for the link: You can gather all your information in advance and then fill out the form more smoothly!

What exactly is “Preferred” Theme Camp Placement? What happens if I don’t get our camp’s registration submitted before the April 8th deadline?

The sooner you have your registration in, the sooner we will have the placement map set for this year. Basically, “preferred theme camp placement” means that the sooner you submit the registration form, the more likely it is that your camp will end up in the neighborhood/location of your choosing (though, as always, there are no guarantees!) If you can’t get the reg form completed by the preferred placement deadline, you still have until April 18th to submit the form, though the sooner it’s in, the sooner we can figure out where you’ll be resting your pretty li’l head in July!

I’m not yet sure how many people will be part of our Theme Camp -- can I change this answer later?

Since you can only submit the application once, you’ll need to have a rough estimate at the time you apply in order to calculate the amount of space you will need. Preferred Placement registration ends April 8th, which is one week after the second round of ticket sales, so by that point you should have a pretty good idea of how many members your camp will have.

How can I figure out how much space our camp will need?

Here is a good formula to estimate how much square footage you will need for your private camping space:

Number of campers

x 81 square feet =

Estimated square footage for private space of Theme Camp

This estimate assumes an average 9’ x 9’ area for each camper. You may wish to survey your campers on how large their actual tents are, and then add a foot to each side to allow for guylines and pathways.

(Note: This formula does not help you calculate public space needs. That is determinate on what your camp is bringing.) Don’t be greedy -- we are tightly packed!

What about hammock campers? Do I need to include them in our space estimate?

Fortunately, Marvin’s Mountaintop has a plethura tree canopy lines that would be lovely spots for hammock camping! If your hammock campers do not require any actual cleared ground space (i.e., where a tent could otherwise be placed), do not include them in your space estimates.

When can we expect to know where our camp will be placed?

We should have every theme camp placed by mid-June. Stay tuned for an announcement on the Transformus website!
