NATIONAL YOUTH SPORTS 
BASKETBALL: 7U YEAR OLD
Applies to both practices and games.
- The size of the playing area is full court or crosscourt.
- The height of the basket will be approximately 8.5 feet.
- The free throw line will be ten feet from the basket.
- The size of the basketball is a 27.5 inch or Junior size.
- No forfeits! The game will be played five on five or four on four depending on team size. Each team will have a maximum of ten players on their roster.
- Anymore than ten players on the roster has to be approved by the league coordinator and head coach.
- Each child must play at least half of every game.
- The game will consist of four, eight minute quarters with a running clock except for timeouts. There will be two, thirty second timeouts per team per half. Half time will last two minutes with one minute between quarters.
- The provided NYS jersey must be worn at all times. No exceptions!
- A jump ball will start each game.
- No score will be kept.
- Player substitutions may only occur during stoppage in play
- One coach from each team may stand on the sideline during play to instruct players. Coaches are not allowed on the court during play.
- There will be no lane violations called and no individual fouls counted.
- Defense is man to man, no zone. Double-teaming is not allowed in the lane area. No slapping or reaching in at the ball. Stealing of the ball while controlled by an offensive player is not allowed; stealing during a pass is allowed. No back-court defense allowed.
- No fast breaks. Teams must allow the other to get back and set on Defense.
- In the 6-7 division, players will technically be allowed to travel and double dribble. However, they will only be warned once before the referee makes a call. Additionally, when stationary, if a player picks up their dribble, they may not begin to dribble again.
- Excessive fouling, stealing, or rough play may result in a technical foul (1 point will be awarded for each technical foul).
- Possession will alternate each quarter, jump ball, or double foul.
- Players may not run with the ball; dribbling must be emphasized.
- After each basket the opposing team will then inbound the ball from their end line.
SPORTSMANSHIP/CODE OF CONDUCT
• Shouting of negative comments by any coach or spectator to any opposing player, official, staff member or to the opponent’s sideline is strictly prohibited. Any violation will result in a sideline infraction.
- If any person not included in the team roster (coach or player) enters the field of play. The referees and/or site supervisor have the discretion to end the game immediately.
Player Code of Conduct
- I will remember that games are played for fun!
- I will display good sportsmanship ahead of my own personal desire to win.
- I will demonstrate good sportsmanship regardless of the score by acting in a positive manner towards all players, officials, parents and coaches.
- I will show respect to all game officials, coaches, players, and parents and never act in a manner that would be disrespectful toward them.
- I will not use drugs, tobacco or alcohol at any National Youth Sports practice or game and will remind others on my team not to do so.
- I will shake hands with the other team at the conclusion of all games.
- I will shake hands with the officials at the conclusion of all games.
- I will remember that youth sports are played for fun!
Parent Code of Conduct
- I will be a role model for my team demonstrating how to treat other players, parents, officials and coaches with respect at all times.
- I will demonstrate good sportsmanship regardless of the score by acting in a positive manner towards all players, officials, parents and coaches.
- I will show respect to all referees, officials or umpires and never act in a manner that would be disrespectful toward them.
- I will be an encouragement to all players on all teams regardless of the score.
- I will place my child’s emotional and physical well being ahead of my own personal desire to win.
- I will volunteer to help my child’s team by coaching, officiating, planning team parties, team pictures, and team trophy orders, phone calls and/or other needs.
- I will not use drugs, tobacco or alcohol at any National Youth Sports practices or games and will remind other parents not to do so.
- I will remember that the game is played for the youth and not for the adults.
- I will encourage my child to shake hands with the other team at the conclusion of all games.
- I will encourage my child to shake hands with the officials at the conclusion of all games.
I understand that I and possibly my child will be suspended without warning from the league for any violation of this Parent’s Code of Conduct
