FAQs
NCBOLD is a day long, face to face digital teaching and learning conference. NCBOLD events will be held in each of North Carolina’s eight regions to facilitate access for all public school educators.
NCBOLD is an opportunity to receive innovative and cutting edge professional learning from practicing educators to improve the learning experience of students. It is also an opportunity for you to network with educators from across your region and state.
You are welcome to attend any and all NCBOLD events, no matter the location. We want this experience to be as accessible to our participants as possible, so please register for the date and location that work best for you.
NCBOLD has a guide for participants to review sessions offered at NCBOLD. Some sessions will only be offered in the Eastern regions or the Western Regions with other sessions being offered in both regions. The guide specifies which sessions will be offered in each region.
Participants can earn up to 0.7 CEUs of recommended Digital Learning Credits for each day they attend a NCBOLD event. Participants are responsible for providing the certificate of attendance to their PSU for processing and must meet any additional requirements based on their local PSU requirements.
NCBOLD is provided by the NC Department of Public Instruction (DPI) through the Digital Learning Initiative. There is NO cost for public school educators to attend.
NCBOLD provides lunch and a light breakfast at no cost to our attendees.
We encourage attendees to dress comfortably since it is traditionally warm during July in North Carolina. Attendees may wish to bring a sweater for sites that may be particularly cool.
We encourage participants to bring a fully charged laptop or tablet. We have found that a cell phone is often not adequate enough for participants to fully maximize their NCBOLD experience. Participants are encouraged to bring a charging cord as well just in case their device’s battery drains quickly.
All our host sites have been asked to ensure that high speed Wifi is available all day for the event.
Our guiding principle for NCBOLD is “for educators, by educators.” We have worked carefully with our Ambassadors (presenters) to create cutting edge, innovative content that positively impacts the learning experience of students. All of our ambassadors are practicing educators in the schools of North Carolina. We will also have a small number of presenters from NCDPI’s division of Digital Teaching and Learning.
