What generic features do you see (e.g. dance routine: dance/pop music) Sound – genre, instruments, lyrics, emotion | The genre is soul/pop and we know did due to the instruments we can hear such as guitar and drums. We also see dancing and the music becomes more upbeat to fit the dancing, but it does not follow the general conventions of a pop song, but we are able to tell through the vocals. It has some performance aspects as there is dancing

The setting is a block of dark grey flats and the weather is cloudy and then gets a little bit sunny and it looks like a more lower-class setting.

The setting felt like you average American public school as well as middle class home. And the last setting was in a forest at night, which makes a creepy feel.

What are they doing/type? | They use long shots to focus on the tower block and our surroundings. Also use close shots and mid shot to focus on CBR. A lot of close shots are used to focus on the emotion of the other actors. They also use low shots and mid shots and mid long shots. | Start off as high shots but as the video goes on they become low shots showing the boy is more powerful than we first thought.

Editing – How are camera shots edited? What is the pace like? How does the editing fit the music
| The pace is very slow to match the music at the start , so that we can pick up the lyrics and it helps create a sad effect but as the it goes on it speeds up and as we see people being helped and the song gets more upbeat, the pace quickens. The camera shots seem to linger at the start but then switch and cut quick and flow effortlessly.
| When there is a pursuit or a chorus, the clips are sped up to keep up with the pace of the music and the events in the video. When the song and events slow down, so does the pace of the clips.

Mise-en-scene – comment on costume, setting, hair, props, make up, facial expressions etc How does this fit genre? | CBR red dress can represent love, everyone in the music vid looks different and unique and are also wearing dull colour clothes.
The girl is wearing a blue hoodie which has connotations of sadness and how she has suffered.
The contest between the bright red and the dark blue suggest that she has grown as a person and become happier. (if the girl in blue is a younger version of herself)
The make-up is natural, suggesting self-confidence and acts as a role model to have self-confidence.
Smoke was which has connotations to mystery and danger, this could suggest the people in the video lives were in danger. |

| The artist wants to be unique compared to other artists. The uniqueness he is trying to present is strength and confidence as a mindset. David Guelett and Sia want to also come across as people who want fall down and will always get back up when thing are not going there way
