Here’s a look at some of our “I Can Statements” for the week:

Reading

• I can read and discuss books with others to learn and grow as a reader.
• I can follow the rules, routines, and expectations of our reading workshop community.
• I can read and understand fiction.
• I can find the main character, setting, problem, and solution in a story.
• I can identify the differences between facts and opinions.
• I can compare and contrast.
• I can summarize a story.

Writing

• I can follow the rules and routines of a writing workshop.
• I can write a paragraph that includes an introduction, body, and concluding sentence.
• I can write a complete sentence remembering to use capital letters and punctuation.
• I can find the common and proper nouns in a sentence and explain the difference between them.
• I can write an opinion/persuasive paragraph.

UFLI (Phonics)

• I can name and use all of the short vowel sounds.
• I can name and use all of the long vowel sounds.
• I can name and use consonant blends.
• I can name and use consonant digraphs.
• I can identify the CVC silent e pattern.

Math

• I can follow the rules and routines of the math workshop.
• I can draw an array and write the matching multiplication sentence.
• I can divide a number of objects into equal groups.
• I can multiply by 2, 5, and 10.
• I can recognize a benchmark number to help me count up to 1,000.
• I can round to the nearest ten and the nearest hundred.
• I can tell time to the nearest minute.
• I understand elapsed time.

Social Studies

• I can talk about and recognize different landforms and bodies of water.
