Basics:

What is Steubenville Conference All About?

2019 Theme-  BELONG “See what love the Father has bestowed on us, that we may be called children of God.” -1 John 3:1

From His throne in heaven to the depths of your heart, these words of Jesus are an invitation for you to receive the new life that He alone can give. He is longing to elevate your life above the things of this world – to help you overcome fear, anxiety, confusion and doubt. He wants to break the things that hold you down and give you freedom from sin. He is calling you to follow Him and enter into a transforming experience with His love, grace, and mercy! He can make you new! This summer, join over 50,000 other Catholic teens at one of our 25 youth conferences and experience the joy of following Christ and being elevated by His love.

This Conference is comprised of three jam-packed days with talks by some of the BEST Catholic speakers in the country, prayer, Mass, adoration, Confession, joy and JESUS!  Time and time again, we have seen teens have an amazing experience of who God really is and who they are called to be!

STEUBENVILLE WEST in Tucson, Arizona

July 19-21, 2019

Why go to Tucson Steubenville and not another one closer?

There are a lot of reasons, but the biggest reason was the calendar.  Our summer schedule has so many events and the San Diego Conference interfered with our SURF retreat.  In addition, the Tucson Steubenville Conference has the reputation of having the BEST organization, hospitality and speakers.   And this conference was significantly cheaper than the closer conferences so the cost didn’t increase too much even once travel expenses were factored in.  Overall, our teens seem to be SUPER excited about this adventure!

Cost:

$275  -  Make Checks payable to St. Edward the Confessor Parish

Fundraising available, but please notify Laura ASAP if you’re interested!

This cost covers lodging, all meals, a Steubenville T-Shirts.

Travel Plans:

Friday   Goal-  Arrive in Tucson no later than 3:30 pm.  Friday dinner starts as early as 5

Sunday-  Heading Back

Travel Route-

Arrival back at St. Edward around 9:30 pm.

We will have all the teens text parents once we are leaving Tucson and when we have our dinner stop.  This way we will have a more exact ETA.  We appreciate your flexibility!!!

Cars we will be using:

We will be taking our New Church Van (Lovingly named “Bishop” by the teens… Bishop Van… yes, just say it aloud a few times and it makes sense.)

We will also have 2 rented mini vans.  All our drivers are fully insured and over the age of 25.

Housing:

We will be staying at the University of Arizona Campus dorms and also eating our meals in their cafeterias.  This conference works hard to make everything “Safe Environment” compliant.  Seperate buildings are for men and women.  Clergy are housed in completely separate buildings.  Dorms are supervised by chaperones and group leaders, however, no adults and teens are ever housed in the exact same room.  Dorms are assigned by the conference.

Who Will Be Chaperoning:

In additional to your crazy youth minister coming along, we will have 3 additional chaperones:

All of our Chaperones have been trained and approved for working with minors by the Diocese of Orange.  This includes a fingerprinting background check.  We have 16 teenagers who have registered, meaning the teen to chaperone ratio is 4 to 1.  We are taking a larger team to ensure an even meaningful experience.  (Teens are in small sharing groups during certain parts of this Conference.)

Packing List:

Please pack LIGHTLY, as we will be limited on room in the vans.

We ask all participants at Steubenville West to dress modestly, remembering this is a church event.  Clothing must cover all undergarments and midriffs.  No sagging, no low-cut tops, no short shorts, no clothing with offensive language or obscene pictures, no costumes, etc.  (If you have a question about modesty, ask Laura!  Or your grandma…)

What To Bring List
