The right to use an information system or an information service is called an account. There are various methods to certify if a person has an access right. The ECCS uses the following information:
By pairing these two sets of information, an identity of a user is verified. Operation or system to verify the access right is called “authentication.” In a narrow sense, the pair consisting of the username and password is called an “account.”
Username and password are issued as a proof of the access right, and lending or transferring them to some other person is a violation of the usage rules. Using an account of someone else who has the right to access the system without acknowledgement is a violation of law.
An account of the ECCS is linked to UTokyo Account (see “3.2 UTokyo Account”) where the ECCS access right is granted to a UTokyo Account to enable each service of the ECCS.
