Happy December and Happy Holidays!  This period of time, as the days get shorter, darker, and colder, we celebrate light in darkness.  We hope you can take time to appreciate this time of year and the peacefulness it can create.

Our Winter Concert on 12/11 is for families of our 5th grade band and chorus students.  The concert will begin at 7:00.

There was an assembly at school yesterday.  We celebrated our school culture of giving.  The Student Council outlined their great work this year which includes a clothing drive, canned food drive, and the UNICEF collection among many others.  Mrs. Wheeler-Bean and Mrs. Allen-Harris shared their “story” to model an upcoming project culminating in May.  They discussed observations and events that have helped make them who they are.  Also presented is an explanation of last year’s fifth grade gift coming to fruition.  “The 3 Gates” are being erected down our front walkway.  Each gate is designed to symbolize one of three questions we ask our students to use to filter their words: “Are they true?”, “Are they kind?”, “Are they necessary?”  These gates are based on a cross-cultural story with many variations.  Students from the Seacoast School of Technology have used this project to practice their building skills with the guidance of teacher Jim Klingensmith.  Thank you to Facilities Director Dick Wendell and SST Principal Margaret Callahan for helping to make this project happen!

Please note that we have a full week of school leading up to our school vacation.  Students will be dismissed at our normal time (2:55) on 12/22.  School will reopen on January 2nd, 2018.

Our Student Council clothing drive is still on.  We are collecting clothing and gently used twin sized bedding through 12/22.  Please consider helping if you are able.

Enrichment sign ups were due back today.  If you haven’t turned in your registration, please send it in as soon as possible.  The popular Sports Medley is full at this time.
