Message from the Principal

Dear Bateman Families,

Welcome to the Bateman school website, a useful tool to stay informed of what is happening at the school and in your child’s classroom. You can use the website to communicate with the teachers and staff as well as keep up on the latest information and important events at Bateman. Communication and involvement is the key to a successful educational experience for your child. We invite you to become an active participant in our school community through volunteering in the classrooms, joining a parent organization, and attending / supporting school events. Did you know academic research positively correlates your child’s school success with involved parents and guardians? Getting involved will give you the opportunities to communicate with the teachers, staff and other parents. It is through these experiences you will strengthen your appreciation for what a wonderful staff and community we have for our children. You have my commitment to continue to work with the staff and the board of education to provide the best environment and education possible for the children of Bateman Elementary.

I look forward to working together to make the 2017-2018 academic year phenomenal, filled with amazing growth, adventure and learning for all!!

All the best,,

BAM!  Bateman Attendance Matters

As we begin the new school year, let’s all make every day count at Bateman!  Families can set the expectation that school attendance matters.  Remember, you can turn to the school for help!  Please reach out to inform your child’s teacher if you are facing a challenge with attendance. Our hope is to see “All here! All on time!”.

Some helpful tips for maintaining attendance:

•         Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.

•         Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.

•         Don’t let your child stay home unless she is truly sick. Keep in mind complaints   of a stomach ache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.

•         If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make her feel comfortable and excited about learning.

•         Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.

•         Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session.

Open House

We hope to see everyone at Open House on Wednesday, September 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m..  Please come by to meet your child’s teacher and find out what they will be learning this school year..  This is an invaluable time to connect with your child’s teacher and maintain a strong partnership in supporting your child!  I can’t wait to see you there!
