DISCHARGE RENUVION FACIAL RESURFACING INSTRUCTIONS

PLEASE NOTE: These instructions are to be followed as a general guideline.  Any change to these instructions will be discussed with you by Dr. Petersen.

Inflammation Phase (Days 1-3)

o Tepid to cool showers 3 or more times per day. Do NOT use any cleansers and do not wipe or rub the skin. Gently remove the Aquaphor by using the gause as a sponge and gently tapping the treatment area.

o Follow the shower with vinegar water soaks 3 or more times/day using the following guidelines:

wear gloves when performing vinegar soaks to reduce the risk of infection.

Use a clean bowl with cold tap water and a few ice cubes and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar for every cup of water. You can make a pitcher of this solution to keep in the refrigerator.

Using clean 4x4 gauze pads, wet the gauze pads with the water/vinegar solution and apply over the face. The gauze pads should be replaced before they become dry. Alternatively, cold water may be repeatedly spritzed over the gauze or sprayed onto the gauze using a clean spray bottle.

The soak should continue for approximately 30 minutes.

The water/vinegar solution should not sting. If there is stinging dilute the solution

The water should remain chilled and be replaced when warm.

o After showering or applying vinegar soaks, twice a day apply exosomes to the skin by patting rather than rubbing the skin, then the entire treatment area should be covered with an alcohol-free occlusive ointment such as Aquaphor. Gloves should be used when applying exosomes and the occlusive ointment to the face.

Regenerative Phase (Days 4-14)

o Tepid to cool showers multiple times per day—but at least 3 times daily. o Alcohol-free cleansers (e.g., Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser or Elta MD Foaming Facial Cleanser) and alcohol-free occlusive ointments (e.g., Aquaphor) are allowed during this stage.

o When washing the face do not rub the skin or peel or pick at any peeling skin. If your skin is breaking out with acne or milia DO NOT pick at the break outs. Peeling the or picking at the skin can cause scaring and dark spots.

o Vinegar water soaks as needed—but at least 3 times daily.

o Finish any remaining exosomes after each vinegar soak.

o Remember to remain out of the sun and avoid all UV exposure.

Restorative Phase (Day 15 and Beyond)

o Sunblock should be used during this stage (e.g.,EltaMD UV Restore Broad Spectrum SPF 40 tinted sunscreen or EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 Broad Spectrum sunscreen)

o No hydroquinone

o No retinol

o Light moisturizers (e.g., Epionce Renewal Moisturizer or Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer) may also be used following re-epithelialization.

Additional Instructions:

o Attend all scheduled follow up appointments to ensure healing is progressing as anticipated.

o Be isolated from household pets during the re-epithelialization phase of healing.

o Avoid sun exposure and pollutants during the healing process.

o Not to remove, try to remove, pick, rub, or squeeze areas of skin, whether using fingers or tweezers.

o Not to allow their skin to dry out as this can increase the risk of increased pigmentation or darkening of the treated skin.

o Not to touch treated areas with anything that is not clean.

o Wash their hands carefully before touching treated skin.

o Not to use any anti-aging/exfoliating/harsh cleansers, medications or scrubs.

o Not to use fabric conditioners when washing bed sheets, pillowcases or clothing that may touch treated skin as fabric conditioners can cause skin irritation.

o Avoid close contact with someone who has any form of contagious infection.

Expected Follow Up Schedule:

These dates may not be exact, depending on availability. Follow up appointments will be at about days, 1, 3, 6, 10, and 14 post procedure. Follow up appointment will then be weekly for weeks 3-9. After this phase follow up appointment will be monthly for a period of about 6 months post procedure depending on need.

EXPECTED CLINICAL SIDE EFFECTS:
