Form (new)
| For warmups, I did a series of kicking practice. I was a little out of breath. I need to work on my stamina. I learned a new form called Sipjin today. The formation looks like the chinese character “ten”. I only learned half of the moves today, but I really like it. My favorite move is the “pushing stone”. It’s hard to get the placement of my hand right, but when done accurately, the move looks epic. My goal for next class is to finish learning Sipjin. |

Form (new)
| During warmup, I learned a new way of performing side kicks. In the old way, I’m supposed to bring my knee all the way to the side before extending my thigh and leg. With the new way, I do the side kick like a roundhouse kick, but pushing my legs directly sideways. This new technique can help me kick higher and with more power. I reviewed the form Keumang, Taebaek, and Pyonngwon. For Keumang, I practiced on the fast turning moves. It requires speed and balance. I also practice on making precise steps. For Taebaek, I learned to breathe at the right time. In taekwondo, we breathe in between a series of moves. The timing of the breathing and the pace of the moves are really important when performing the form. For Pyongwon, I practiced on the hardest move in this form, which is the front kick — back kick combination. I finished learning all the moves in Sipjin. Last time I only learned all the moves on the horizontal line. This time, I learned the moves on the vertical line. I’m still not very familiar with the moves, but at least I now know the sequence and will be able to memorize them all next time. Things to work on are new sidekick (being able to pause my feet at the highest point) breathing patterns, front kick—back kick, and Sipjin. |
