FTSP Board Meeting Minutes 

Wednesday, January 22, 2025 – 10:00 am CDT

A. Call to order at 10 AM

B. Reports

  1. President
    o 2025 Project Plan
    – Did updates from November meeting, plus edits for clarity and to match our current practice
    – Directors to review, be ready to discuss and approve in a near-future meeting
    o DNR requires new Memorandum of Understanding
  1. Seems to put more burden on Liason. Our liaison is Grace.
  1. Treasurer – financial report
  1. Park State Bank Balance $481.43
  2. Parks and Trails
  1. Still not received Dec balance sheet, estimate ~$6k.
  2. Corresponding with Brent at P&T. They are having an issue with our small restricted grants for Music and Winterfest. P&K does not want to manage the details of the grants and how they are used.
  1. Could be because they are having Auditing issues.
  2. They consider wording like “For Winterfest” to be restrictive.
  3. Grace offered to talk to Brent at P&T to present DNR point of view. Anne will send Grace contact info.

  1. No Sauna
  2. Working on fish for toss game
  3. Jill has flyers made some and are already out. Other funding could be used for printing and ads.
  4. All volunteers need to fill out new form for 2025. Send to Grace.
  5. Musician contract out today.

  7. Choose volunteer tasks.
  1. Artist receptions
  1. Might need extra smaller cookies for the Feb 7 student exhibit.
  1. Concerts
  1. Depends on grants
  2. Best of North SHore already has us in the budget for concerts; but do not know amount.
  3. Anne is working on documentation for grants.
  1. Nature Play Area
  1. No plans for 2025 because of parking lot being used for bridge work.
  1. Trail Stewards
  1. Mike needs to update where Mike and Beth did on share site.
  2. Grace said that there are more trail tasks that could be done by the FTSP.
  1. Park Staff
  1. No real updates for 2025 MOU and project list.
  2. Park staff to meet soon to discuss these items and Sam Zimmerman work.
  3. Paula asked Grace if she would like a calendar of Artist and Music events. Grace answered that this would be very helpful.
  4. Contract for bridge work has been awarded, and work will use the parking lot all summer.
  5. Grace out June, July, August for maternity leave.

C. Old Business

D. New Business

  1. 2025 budget discussion
  1. No P&T stuff yet. So far only Winterfest,  Music, and Artists. And also possibly some expenses related to Artist in Residence.
  2. Grace has reached out to other friends groups to see what they do.
  1. Winter Fest
  1. See above.
  1. St. Urho’s Day
  1. Want to participate.
  2. Coordinate a time to show up. Carry banners in parade and pass out candy.
  3. Need someone to coordinate with St Urho’s group.
  1. Next board meetings:
    o February 19 – Set budget, approve MO    U & project plan,
    o Not March 19? – Lowell will not be available. Meet if needed    .

  1. Member meeting to discuss how to boost volunteers and membership
  1. Could have meeting before May 2 artist reception.

  1. Discuss what to do with recent group volunteer request.
  1. Mike to send info to Grace for possible trail maintenance
  1. Need to set up a meeting to review and scrub mailing list.
  2. Lowell to send Grace a list of FTSP BOD members
