Minutes of Langley Minor Lacrosse AGM

November 29th 2017

Dave VandeLeur made introductions of the members of the executive. Copies of reports, 2016 AGM meeting minutes and agenda were provided for everyone to look at and keep.

Motion:                to accept AGM meeting minutes from 2016 AGM

Reports were looked over by all attending. After time given to read over Dave VandeLeur asked if there were any questions/concerns regarding each individual report. There were not any questions/concerns voiced.

LMLA Awards:

2017 Presidents Award was presented to Cou Lai.

Coach of the Year award was presented to Gavan Sand by Darren Buchan.

Referee of the Year award was presented by Zach Jones and was awarded to Andrew Kennedy.

Volunteer of the Year award was presented by Dave VandeLeur and was given to Susan Rahe.

Female Player of the year was presented by Gavan Sand and was given to Olivia Ohlmann.

Male Player of the year was presented by Dennis Quigley and was given to Kyle Brunsch.

Election of Officers

Positions up for elections are as follows;

President ( 1yr term )

2nd VP ( 2yr term )

Susan called for 1st nomination for President

Chris Levis nominated himself

Susan called for 2nd nomination

Jason Goller nominated Sandra Margetson

Susan called for 3rd nomination

Susan asked the nominees if they would let their name stand.

Sandra and Chris both accepted.

Sandra and Chris both spoke to the room as to their qualifications for the position.

Attendees at the meeting were asked to cast a ballot ( 1 per family ) for the nominee they would like for president. Ballots were cast by all voting members and counted by two members of the executive.

After the ballot count the President ( 1yr term ) is Sandra Margetson.

Susan called for 1st nomination for 2nd Vice President ( 2yr term )

Susan called for 1st nomination

Jason Goller nominated Darren Buchan

Susan called for 2nd nomination

Cou Lai nominated Chris Levis

Susan asked if both nominees would let their names stand.

Chris Levis did not accept.

Susan casts 1 ballot for Darren Buchan.

Darren Buchan is the new elected 2nd Vice President ( 2yr term )

New Business

Dave talked about the in-house tyke program that Ridge is implementing. It’s a program designed to help develop these players and prepare them for Novice.

 Daniel read over the report that came out of the lower mainland meeting ;

The program is basically tiering tyke teams into appropriate skill levels. They are hoping to have this set in place for the start of April 15th.

Discussion between executives and attendees laying out Pros and Cons to this idea. Was re-iterated by the executive that this program is just in the talking stage and that no decisions had been made to move ahead with this.

Sandra Margetson thanked the members of the executive that were leaving and thanked them for their service.
