Basketball team wins game

Pivot to Remote Learning will occur this Thursday

• Goal is ensure students can access Google Classroom at home and complete an assignment from their at home device
• Teachers will follow up with students who do not complete the activity at home to support and resolve issues they may have (wi-fi, device access, etc.)

Assessments

Acadience started today

• Testing comprehension and fluency
• Timed assessment to read and retell
• Used in grades K-2 only as a progress monitoring tool across the district

iReady diagnostic iis upcoming

• Used for planning instruction and afterschool program criteria
• Will be sending home parent reports of diagnostic
• iReady team would like to provide a parent workshop

Enrichment & Afterschool Programs

Robotics afterschool program

• Townsend Harris Steelhawks are leading the program
• Introducing 3D design to students in Grade 3-5

Minecraft Lunch Club

• Grade 5 students in teams of 5  will build a structure that meets the competitions criteria
• Minecraft build will be submitted to competition in March

Civics for All

• Run by Ms. Pratt and Ms. Hernandez
• Soapbox activity recao
• Debate teams across District 25 that we will now get students involved
• Afterschool club format (tentatively Wednesdays)
• Parent permission is needed
• Will start in the next few weeks
• For grades 3-5

Academics Afterschool

• Beginning 2/25
• Tuesdays-Thursdays
• AIS intervention, ELL and test prep
• Data from middle of year assessments will be used to determine participants

        Basketball Enrichment Club held by 3rd party

• Rents out space
• Open to our students and others in community

SEL Program to be introduced as well

PTA

• 2-Scoop Tuesday is cancelled and to be rescheduled
• Bake sale on the 28th will go forward
• Tae Kwon Do with Honor Roll Assembly on the 30th
• 5th Grade cap and gown pictures will happen on 2/10

• Parents will be informed

• Cupcake decorating for 5th grade event on 2/10
• 2/14: Penguin Dance for entire school

• DJ has been secured
• Held during lunch periods
• School aides will walk students to gym, stay and supervise
• Will look at 3K and how to include

Arts for Early Learning Residency (Marquis Studios)

• Heskial: Mr. Everton worked with 3K PreK K students
• Students learn to create beats with upside down buckets
• Students are responding positively and enjoy the program

Will Sam Berger come to speak to students in Student Government and debate?

• Yes, will follow up
• We are currently working on elections.
• He speaks about his experience and gives out certificates to students
• Any day but Friday

Car with boot outside is not related to our parking situation on the front. Boot was due to unpaid tickets

• A parent seen moving barricade and parking while dismissal is occurring. Other parents are following this lead.
• School safety may not be treating all the same when signing in at the door. Parents congregate at door.
