ATTENTION SENIORS!!!

Gabriella Fryer from the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley will be joining us on Wednesday, January 31st, during periods 3 & 4, to present on the scholarship portal. DCC Instant Decision Day

Dutchess Community College will be visiting on Thursday, February 1st from 9:20-11:45 am (periods 3, 4, & 5) in the Maker Space for Instant Decision Day.  Stop by to work through your application with an admissions representative and be given an instant decision on your acceptance.  Pre-registration for the event is available through SCOIR.  Please bring your chromebook to this session!

The 2024-2025 FAFSA is currently available to complete.  You can find the application here.  Please be aware that the website has been experiencing some difficulties.  If you are having difficulties with the website, please be patient and continue trying.  

Community Foundation Scholarship Workshops

The Community Foundation of The Hudson Valley is offering monthly virtual scholarship workshops via zoom. Attendees are led through the online scholarship process and questions are answered throughout the workshop. This event is open to high school students and/or their parents/guardians, undergraduate college students, high school teachers, school counselors, and any high school staff or administration. Registration is required for these workshops and can be found at the following website: https://communityfoundationshv.org/scholarships/. The Workshop Zoom link will be emailed to all registrants on the morning of each session.

Lunch & Learn

Students will have the opportunity to connect with members of our community and learn about different career paths through our Lunch & Learn Program. This week, we will be highlighting the following organizations:

Participants will be set up outside the cafeteria during all lunch periods (4-7) to answer any of your questions

There is no general Student Government meeting today. The officers need to work on the Winter Carnival Booths.

Our next meeting is the MANDATORY Winter Carnival Meeting on Monday 2/5 after school in room 226. Everyone participating in the Winter Carnival must have a representative present.

The 2024 John Jay Talent Show will be held on  Friday, February 23rd from 6:00-8:00

Attention John Jay Students: It has come to our attention that unregistered vehicles have been parking in the JJ Senior Lot. As of  December 7, 2023, at the entrance of the senior lot, we will have a dedicated staff member closely monitoring the parking lot and checking daily for parking permits. Disciplinary actions such as lunch detention, ISR, suspension and revocation of parking privileges may occur for any unregistered drivers found in the lot.  

In addition, for the safety and security of all students and staff, while on campus please adhere to the 5 M.P.H. Speed Limit. Students who fail to comply with the 5 M.P.H. speed limit, may face disciplinary actions and/or lose the privilege to park on premises.

Rock the Belt encourages students to wear their seatbelts in every seat, in every vehicle, every time. Here's how to participate:

CLUBS:

         Ski and Snowboard Club      

There is a Ski and Snowboard Club meeting this FRIDAY,  February 2nd from 2:30-3:00 in the LGI. This meeting is mandatory for anyone attending the West Mountain trip in which we are leaving school early on February 9th. If you cannot attend this meeting, reach out to Mrs. Lieber: kathryn.lieber@wcsdny.org

Jay UNITED will be hosting meetings every other Wednesday starting October 25th.  Join the google classroom! Code: eubkpvn. All are welcome! Come join and learn about the many diverse cultures and traditions around the world!

John Jay's Girl Up Club -  Come to Girl Up's meetings will be held every other  Wednesday, (which started on October 4th) at 2:20 in room 220.  All are welcome, we hope to see you there!

SADD Club:  Are you interested in mental health, traffic safety, and substance abuse prevention? SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) will be having meetings on Wednesday after school! Come and join us to learn more about SADD and all that we do at John Jay!

The JJ Health + Med Club    If you are interested in pursuing anything in health/medicine, join the JJ Health + Med Club! They meet every Wednesday in Room 205.

JJHS Robotics Teams meet on Fridays after school in Room 171 B.  New members are welcome.
