Course Description

Description: In Language Arts 8, we will focus on getting you ready for your high school language arts classes! We’re going to read a lot of short stories, articles, and a couple of whole-class novels, and sharpen our writing skills by practicing writing in each genre we read. My hope is that you find this class to be useful, interesting, and memorable!

5- Excellent! Your work is compelling, insightful and analytical!

4- Mastery- Your work shows good grade level understanding!

3- Proficient- Your work shows basic understanding.

2- Developing- Your understanding is still developing.

1- Not Yet- Your work needs improvement.

LATE WORK POLICY

You are allowed to make up missing assignments as long as they are completed and

turned in before the last Wednesday of the quarter in which they are assigned. If you are absent, you will have the number of days you were absent to submit any missing work.

About Me

  • I started teaching at Floyd Light in 2024, but I first started teaching in 2017 in California.
  • Throughout my career I’ve taught language arts and drama in both middle and high school.
  • I love theater! I’ve put on over 25 plays and musicals with students ages 11-18 and continue to do so at night and on the weekends!
  • I went to UC Irvine (Go Anteaters!) for undergrad and attended grad school at UC Davis.
