2024 Sid Dann Tournament Rules

General:

  1. Registration information and payment must reach the coordinator on/or before April 24rd..
  2. Teams withdrawing from the tournament will not be eligible for a refund, unless a replacement team can be found. Please note that there is a “Failure to Show” fine that would be imposed for a team that defaults any game. This is BCLA Minor Directorate policy and your Association President can provide you with the necessary information on this.
  3. All teams and players must be registered with and abide by BCLA rules governing a sanctioned tournament.
  4. Each team will provide one volunteer to scorekeep or timekeep per game on Friday and Saturday. Scorekeepers and Timekeepers will be provided by the tournament for the medal games on Sunday.
  5. The tournament is not providing first aid services, but Kitsilano and Killarney check-in tables / concession will have ice bags if needed!

Discipline:

  1. Players with outstanding suspensions can serve their suspension(s) while playing in any tournament games and must be noted on the scoresheet in order to be deemed served.
  2. Suspensions received during this tournament will carry over to regular league play.
  3. Team officials (i.e. coach and/or manager) are responsible for the conduct of their players and parents on tournament property. Offenses committed at a tournament are punishable by the Tournament Commissioner, should it be deemed necessary.
  4. The tournament committee reserves the right to remove from the tournament and/or arena facilities any player, coach or spectator who behaves in a manner considered inappropriate for a minor sporting event.

Player Eligibility:

  1. All players must be properly rostered with their Commision and registered with BCLA.
  2. Players in all divisions can only play in two games per day (this includes “call-up players”).
  3. Call-up sheets must be provided to the scorekeeper before the beginning of the game for all called up players.

Game Play:

  1. Paper game sheets will be used and will be provided for validation by managers before the game.
  2. Dressing Rooms will be assigned.  Please clean up after each game thanks!!
  3. All games will have five minutes for warm-up followed by three twenty-minute run time periods. There will be a two-minute break between periods. The final 5 minutes of the third period will be stop time unless the goal spread is 5 or more.  The tournament committee reserves the right to modify this format in order to keep the tournament on time.
  4. Time will be stopped on a penalty to allow volunteer timekeeepers to properly enter the penalty on to the scoreboard.

Points and Standings:

  1. For the C division, there will be 6 teams participating. Play will be as follows:
  1. For the first round, each team will play 3 other teams. Team matchups to be randomly selected. Standings will be determined as below.
  2. A semifinal where the top four teams from the first round will play 1v4, 2v3.
  3. A medal round where the winners of the semifinal will play for Gold and the losers of the semifinal will play for Bronze.
  1. For the B division, there will be 8 teams participating. Play will be as follows:
  1. For the first round, each team will play 3 other teams. Team matchups to be randomly selected. Standings will be determined as below.
  2. A semifinal where the top four four teams from the first round will play 1v4 and 2v3
  3. A medal round where the winners of the semifinal will play for Gold and the losers of the semifinal will play for Bronze.
  1. First round games will be awarded as follows:
  1. Two points for each game win
  2. One point for each game tie
  3. Zero points for each game loss
  1. Standings will be determined as follows:
  1. Most points
  2. If teams are tied, head to head results will break the tie
  3. If teams are still tied, the team with the Lowest Total Penalty Minutes will receive the higher placing.
  4. If teams are still tied,  the team with the Lowest Total Goals Against will be placed higher
  5. If teams are still tied, the tie will be settled by a coin toss.
  6. If teams are still tied, whichever team purchased the most socks at our concession will be deemed the winner.
  1. Games tied in the Semi Finals or Medal Round will be broken as follows:
  1. Twenty minute run time sudden victory periods with a 2 minute rest break between periods.
  1. For the Sid Dann Goalie Award, standings will be determined as follows:
  1. Goalie(s)*** with the lowest goals against then, if tied,
  2. Team with the most wins then, if tied,
  3. Team with the least penalty minutes then, if tied,
  4. a coin toss.
  5. *** for teams that do not have a dedicated goalie, standings will be determined across all goalies played (in other words, this becomes a “goalie team” award)
  1. All decisions by the tournament committee are final.
