Shine Your Way Recital Reminders

Spring 2019

Hey Shine Your Way Families!

We are just about 3 weeks away from show time,  and we couldn’t be more excited!

Here are some reminders about the show:

PERFORMANCE AND REHEARSAL DATE:  Saturday, May 18th

There will be one performance at 2:30pm.  We expect the show to last less than 1.5 hours.  For those students in We Are Monsters, this show is on the same day, at the same venue but later in the day.

375 Blackstone Drive, San Rafael.

COSTUMES:

Each performer has already received their costume.  There are lots of little pieces and accessories, and we ask that you be very careful not to lose anything.  If anything is lost, we DO NOT have extras, and your dancer will have to go on stage with an incomplete costume.

Please have your child wear their hair away from their face in a ponytail, pigtails or bun.  If in Acro class, their hair should not be on top of their head because it makes it hard to do rolls, something like a low ponytail or bun. Makeup is up to the individual family, but a little lipstick and blush always look great on stage.

On show day, the students should arrive in their first costume (see the show order above).

Be sure to label everything!  Especially all of your child's shoes!  Sometimes things move so quickly during the show, that costume pieces and shoes tend to get mixed up, so be sure to label everything please!

After the show, the students get to keep their costumes.  Enjoy having that for future Halloweens and dress up days!

Here is a list of what the kids are wearing for each class:

Rockets:

Dazzlers:

Sparklers:

Broadway A Monday (How Far I’ll Go, Sunshine Day)

Broadway B Wednesday (Under the Sea, Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing)

Here is the link: https://rhythmsperformingarts.thundertix.com

REMEMBER - The link will not be working until May 13th.

We don’t anticipate having a problem with tickets, there are plenty of seats at Mary Silveira.  However, we appreciate if you buy your tickets early so we know how many seats to put out.  The doors will open 15 minutes before show time; parents will not be allowed into the theater prior to doors opening, so saving seats before that time will not be allowed.

DVD and FLOWERS:

We took orders for DVDs, individual roses, and small flower bouquets online in the recital contract.  Individual flowers will also be available for purchase at the recital.  f you would like to pre-order a DVD or Flowers, please email us before May 5th, and we will add your name to the list.  We will charge flowers and DVD orders to your account so you can pay with your May tuition; credit cards on file will have those charged on May 1.   The following people have ordered DVD’s:

PARENT VOLUNTEERS:

Parents of Shine Your Way students are not required to volunteer.  However, we’d love some baked goods for our refreshment table.  If you’d like to volunteer to bring some treats,  here is the link.  We need all of the treats delivered to Mary Silveira by 1:30pm on show day.

A Reminder about the Recital:

Our goal for our recitals is to focus on a great process!  The product should be fun and entertaining, but it is not our #1 goal.  As our students work through the semester, we remind them that the goal is to have fun and focus on their whole dance education - not just their recital!  Recital weekend is a big highlight for all of our dancers, but mainly that is because they get to make new friends, wear a fun costume, take photos, get flowers and have lots of fun bonding time.  Performing a great show for a live audience is just the icing on the cake of a great year of dance classes!

FOLLOWING THE RECITAL:

There will be no further classes after the recital and your account will no longer be charged.  We hope your students will join us for some awesome summer camps.  Our regular classes start back up in September.

If you have any recital questions, please email or call the studio: RhythmsPerformingArts@gmail.com or (415) 898-9717.
