REMIT for Transport & Clean Streets Committee

The T&CS Committee has been formed to help ensure that the LCCC area has a public realm infrastructure commensurate with its densely populated area and recognises the importance of agreeing an appropriate hierarchy of users.

Two very similar hierarchies have been proposed and will be used to inform the activities of the T&CS Committee until a unified hierarchy has been drawn up and agreed.

  • pedestrians
  • bicycles
  • public transport
  • commercial vehicles
  • taxis
  • high occupancy vehicles
  • single occupancy vehicles
  • pedestrians
  • public transport users
  • cyclists
  • waste collection and street cleaning vehicles
  • delivery vehicles to local businesses
  • delivery vehicles to private addresses
  • through traffic

Remit

T&CS Committee acts on behalf of LCCC and will

  1. encourage and support any measures and policies that promote the quality, upkeep and cleanliness of the public realm in the LCCC area, that is: all public spaces except parks and green corridors. In particular:
    - street lighting and maintenance
    - domestic and business waste collection
    - street cleansing
  2. monitor pollution from transport in the area
  3. monitor and respond to TROs in the area
  4. contribute to and liaise with relevant LCCC Committees and Working Groups, as required
  5. monitor and respond to plans to extend trams along Leith Walk
  6. to monitor and respond to other public realm measures and proposals that are likely to have a material impact on LCCC area
  7. propose a hierarchy of transport users appropriate to LCCC area for adoption by LCCC
  8. review this remit annually prior to the AGM


REMIT for Clean Streets subcommittee

November 2018 (v.1.1)

The CS subcommittee has been formed to focus on monitoring the cleanliness of the public realm in the LCCC area on a day to day basis.

CS Subommittee acts on behalf of LCCC and will

  1. monitor quality, upkeep and cleanliness of the public realm in the LCCC area, that is: all public spaces except parks and green corridors. In particular
  1. use the most appropriate method to report issues of concern to CEC.
  2. liaise with LCCC ward councillors and relevant council officers on issues related to waste management and other relevant issues.
  3. contribute to and liaise with LCCC Transport and Clean Street Committee and LCCC Working Groups, as required.
  4. review this remit annually prior to the AGM
