The Parent Post - Youth 360:  Parents of High School Students: Raising substance-free kids in an era of legalization is one of the biggest challenges of parenting today. Fortunately, parents are the top influencers in their child’s life. Staying plugged-in to the things happening in their lives keeps them talking. Get valuable conversation tips and other insights on preventing teen marijuana use in the Fall 2020 newsletter, The Parent Post, high school edition. The Power of Choice will provide important updates throughout the year on youth substance use prevention.  The Power of Choice is a collaborative project led by 360 Youth Services in District 204 and District 203 middle and high schools growing the number of students making healthy choices regarding substance use.

College Board Accounts for AP | SAT | PSAT:  Many students will soon be beginning the process of registering for AP Exams or will be waiting for the results of the School Day SAT or PSAT/NMSQT. These features are only made available through the students’ College Board account. The Waubonsie Valley Guidance Department encourages students to log into or set up their College Board accounts and verify that all of their personal information is up to date including their preferred email address. If a student is having trouble logging into their College Board account or needs to combine multiple accounts, the student will need to call the College Board Student Helpline at 866-315-6068.  Waubonsie Valley counselors and staff do not have access to student College Board accounts or the ability to reset passwords.  This can only be done by the College Board with a request initiated directly by the student. Additional information on College Board accounts and username/password issues can be found on the College Board website:  https://pages.collegeboard.org/account-help">https://pages.collegeboard.org/account-help

2021 AP Testing Registration Information:  Registration for 2021 AP Exams have begun, but the process will look slightly different this year than it has in the past.  For the 2021 Exam season, students will be automatically registered for an AP Exam once they use their AP course “Join Code” through the College Board Website. The exam fee of $99 will be charged to the student’s PushCoin account in the spring of 2021. It is important that all AP students register for their AP Classroom using the teacher provided “Join Code” no later than November 1, 2020.  Because of the uncertainty of Covid-19 and Remote Learning, College Board is waiving exam cancelation fees this year, however late registration fees are still in place. It is for this reason that we are recommending all students register for their AP Exam before November 1st. Student who are uncertain of their testing status can cancel their exam up until the day of the exam with no financial penalty. This gives students the maximum amount of time to prepare for the AP Exam before making a final testing decision. Students who register late will be charged a $40 late fee per exam. Additional information and full instructions for the 2021 AP Exam registration process are outlined in the file linked below.
