RE Progression Map and Intent, Implementation and Impact
Pedagogy and Assessment
- RE is taught once a week for at least 45 minutes in KS1 and at least 1 hour in KS2. EYFS learn about other cultures and festivals when working towards their Early Learning Goals for Understanding the World
- Teaching is delivered through well-planned representations that express the diversity, fluidity and complexity of a variety of religious and non-religious world-views.
- All year groups cover all faiths building upon prior learning.
- A rich and comprehensive curriculum supports an impactful learning journey for all by adopting a 'three-knowledge-types' approach: substantive, ways of knowing and personal knowledge.
- Lessons are delivered using planning and resources written by subject specific professionals and adapted for our pupils.
- Attendance and interaction with community faith groups put learning into a real life context for children.
- Children’s own religions are discussed and brought into learning where appropriate.
- Where children’s work cannot be evidenced in their books it is displayed in class, school or recorded digitally on class dojo.
- Pupils keep their RE book through school to promote the retention of prior learning
- Excellent links with the community church
- Annual participation in religious events in the community
- Multi-faith partners contribute to learning through visitors to lessons and trips to places of worship.
CPD:
- Staff use G-Suite for education which allows for more collaboration with other staff members and also within job shares. Planning/policies etc are all saved in the shared drive so can be accessed by all staff both at school and home.
- Coaching within TCAT through regular attendance of hub meetings.
