WHAT TO EXPECT FROM Lil’ ALL STARS:  Our philosophy is to offer “Child Enrichment classes” not Child Care.  Our S.E.A.S (Science.Engineering.Art .Sports) program was created to help your child to be creative, explore new things, work with others and so much more in a safe friendly environment. Being an ISP during COVID and teaching remotely for multiple hours a day I was able to see how much the children were needing each other.  As soon as kids were allowed back in school I decided that Lil’ All Stars needed to change. Instead of being a kid, sports and fitness program. The Kids needed to be reminded that we were still all a team, we were in this together.  Lil’ All Stars started working on kids' confidence, making friends, social and emotional well being, playing and interacting together.

We promote positive relationships with all the children and their families within our program and the community.  Since most Lil’ All Stars employees work in local schools and are active members to the mountain community  we are not strangers to the kids and families.  We are able to interact with the kids both inside and outside of our program.  With the low numbers of kids we allow we are able to give kids lots of one on one attention.  When kids are having a rough day or need that special time we are able to do that for them. We understand that each child is different and work to make them successful individuals.

At all times during camp there will be 1-2 adults with the children.  Children are counted and kept in small groups when we do outdoor activities. Every time a location or activity changes children are accounted for and attendance is done.

ADMISSION & ENROLLMENT POLICY:   There are a few forms that we must have completed and in our possession before we can assume the responsibility of caring for your child at camp. These forms must be completed and returned to us before your child can enter my camp.  There are no exceptions to this. You are required to keep us informed of any change in addresses, telephone numbers, and other pertinent information on these forms as they arise including notifying us of additional childhood immunizations.

AGES OF CHILDREN:   We are licensed for school-age children between the ages of 5-16 years old.

CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS:  All children are welcome to our programs, and we will do everything in our power to accommodate all children. No child will be “left out” or not be included because of any disability, either physical, emotional or mental. If there is something we can do to help your child please let us know. In the case of an emergency we will follow the same protocol for all children. In case of an emergency children with special needs/disabilities will be transported with all other children. If a special vehicle is needed 911 will be contacted for help in moving children to a safe location.

EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH:   If your child needs mental health help please contact JCMH (Jefferson Center for Mental Health)  303-425-0300. Also please let us know if there is anything we can do to help, things to watch for. Your child is our #1 priority.

PAPERWORK:   The following paperwork must be filled out and returned to me prior to the first contracted day of camp.  We are unable to assume the responsibility of your child without them. NO EXCEPTIONS.

1.    Contract/Admission Record w/ emergency contacts

2.    Liability release

3.    Immunization Records (Updated Immediately)

VISITORS: Visitors are not allowed at camp while kids are on premises.  If a non-parent comes to camp ID is checked and written down on a log.  One camp adult will talk to the visitor and kids will not be in the area.  If we do arrange for a visitor (ie Firefighter, Police officer, Park Ranger) and email will go home that evening informing parents of the visitor.

CHILD PICK UP: We will only release your child to you or someone who has been predetermined in your Contract or Admission Record and is 18 years old or older. If someone else is to pick-up your child, you must notify us ahead of time, and in writing.  We MUST have written permission to release your child to anyone. Please inform emergency contacts, or people designated to pick up your child, that if we do not know them, we will need to ask for photo identification.  In accordance with Colorado State Laws children will not be released to anyone we feel has had too much to drink. On the rare occasion this does happen we will contact someone from your emergency contact list to come pick the parent and the child up.  If no one can be located a cab will be called and you will be responsible for the cab fares.

*** Court Orders: If there is a court order keeping one parent or guardian away from the child, we must have a legal copy of the order from the court presented by the custodial parent or guardian in our file to that effect.   Otherwise, by law, we cannot prevent the non- custodial parent from picking up the child.

FEES & WITHDRAWING FROM CAMP: Your fees are based on enrollment. Please see our current Camp, Kids Night Out, or After School rates sheet. If you have to withdraw your child from a camp you have already signed up for please send an e-mail so we can remove your child from the program.

If your child is not picked up by closing time and the provider has not been contacted, I will try to call both parents and then any other people listed on the emergency contact list.  As required by State Law, if no one can be reached, the provider will call the police and report the child abandoned.

HOLIDAYS – VACATIONS AND OTHER DAYS OF CLOSURE:   Lil’ All Stars Summer Camp is ONLY open on above listed Camp dates.

Extreme/Inclement  Weather Closures:  In case of extreme/inclement weather conditions, if the Jeffco School District is closed, all camps will be closed for the day. If weather occurs during the time kids are at camp parents will be notified as soon as possible and children will need to be picked up.

ILLNESS POLICY:  The health and well being of all of the children at camp are of the utmost importance to us. It is for the protection of the children that we must insist on a strict adherence to our Illness Policy. If your child becomes ill while at camp he/she will be placed in the “sick area” until you arrive to pick them up.

Immunizations:  A copy of the child’s immunization record must be provided to the camp prior to or at drop off time on the first day of camp.

Allergies:  Please inform us of any allergies your child has.  We will accept children with runny noses, and minor ailments, that are not contagious.  The following rules apply to illness your child may get during his/her stay at the camp.

Atypical Children & Children with Special Needs:  Children who have an IEP plan need to give the camp a copy at enrollment and each time the IEP is updated.  A health plan is required on the first day of camp. ________ parent’s initials Children with special needs will be accepted if the camp is adequate and workable with that child’s special needs.

SYMPTOMS REQUIRING REMOVAL OF CHILD FROM CAMP :

Communicable Diseases: Not permitted by law in childcare. Some of those illnesses are but not limited to: Infectious Conjunctivitis (pink eye), Impetigo, Hepatitis A, Scabies, Ringworm, Infectious Diarrhea, Chicken Pox, Scarlet Fever, Lice, and Strep Throat. If your child is thought to have a communicable disease, you will be notified and asked to pick him/her up. You will be required to pick your child up within 1 hour of notification.  Your child will be accepted back into care when they are no longer contagious. The following diseases must be reported to the Department of Health immediately: HEPATITIS, MENINGITIS, SALMONELLA, SHIGELLA, MEASLES, DIPHTHERIA, RUBELLA, TB, E-COLI, GIARDIA, and MUMPS. Providers will notify parents/guardians of Infectious Conjunctivitis (pink eye), Ringworm, Infectious Diarrhea, Chicken Pox, Lice or Strep Throat exposure by posting a notice which is required by law.  We will never share details about which child/ren have or have had these diseases/Illnesses.

Fever: 101 ° or higher is not permitted. A child needs to be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to childcare; that means the child is fever free without the aid of any fever reducing substance.

Diarrhea: Not permitted.

Vomiting: Not permitted. If your child vomits while at camp, you will be expected to come within 1 hour to pick up your child. The child must stay home until 24 hours have passed with no vomiting episodes.

Runny nose: Your child may be brought to camp if he/she has a common cold (slight occasional cough, clear runny nose, occasional sneezing). Discharge of any color other than clear is not acceptable in camp. If your child has a clear runny nose which lasts longer than a week and you suspect it may be due to allergies, We may require you to bring a doctor’s note stating the same.

Rashes: Not permitted. Any rash other than diaper rash may be acceptable with a note from the doctor stating it is not contagious.

Runny and/or Crusty Eyes: Not permitted. Watery, matted, and/or red/pink eyes are not acceptable in camp under any circumstances.

Lice: Not permitted back to camp until after the second hair treatment. All other parents will be notified of the possibility of a lice outbreak and what symptoms to watch for. If your child has been treated for head lice, a check on the child’s head must be allowed to rule out any lice before the child will be allowed back into childcare.

24-hour Rule: Your child must be free from any of the above symptoms for a minimum of 24 hours before you can return to camp. No exceptions. Please adhere to the listed rules strictly; they are for the safety and wellbeing of your child, as well as the other children.  You may be required to have a “sick child re-admittance form” prior to returning to camp.

MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION POLICY:  Administration of medications requires extra attention.  Parents should check with their Health Care Provider to see if a dosage schedule can be arranged that does not involve the hours the child is at camp. If that dosage schedule can not be arranged parents might want to consider checking with their pharmacy to see if medication can be divided in two bottles so one can remain at the camp.  All medications MUST have the patients’ prescription label (including patient’s name, dosages, expiration date, directions, etc.) All medications left at camp will be kept under lock and key at all times.  Whenever possible, the first dosage of medication should be given at home, to allow the parents time to observe if the child has any type of reaction.  The following requirements must be met before the administration of medications:

Physicians Medication Administration Authorization (We must have this signed with a physician's signature and instructions in order to give any medications – this includes OTC medications such as Tylenol, Cold and Cough medicines).

 Signed Parent/Guardian Medication Release.

Prescription medication shall have the child’s name, name of medication, Doctor’s name, name of pharmacy, prescription number, date, and directions for administering. The medication must be in the original container as dispensed by the pharmacy and match the information that is on the Physician Medication Release Form.

Over-the-counter medications must be labeled with the child’s first and last name.

(Nebulized medication and emergency injections [Epi-Pen] require an Individualized Health Care Plan completed by the doctor on an individual basis.)

Parents are responsible for providing all medications and supplies to the provider.  Children cannot transport medications to and from camp: this includes medications left in their backpacks. Medication Administration specialized training was received. However, further specialized training or education may be required to administer any specific medications; the cost of such training will be the responsibility of the child’s parents.  With concerns to the medication directions, We are not authorized to determine when an “as needed” medication is to be given.  Specific instructions are necessary.  For children with chronic health conditions, this can be determined in collaboration with the consulting physician.  We may not deviate from the written authorization given to us from the Health Care Provider.  We are required to count and record the quantity for controlled substances when received from the parent or guardian.  Medications that are expired or are no longer being used will be returned to the parent or guardian.  If the medication has not been picked up within one week of the date of the request, then medication must be properly disposed of according to Colorado State licensing requirements. In order for me to administer the medication it must be signed in daily by the parent or guardian.  A medication log is always available. Parents will need to provide a Medication Administration Authorization Form for all medications, over the counter and prescriptions.  Parents must inform us of any medications that the child is taking.  These medications can be noted on the child’s health status form.  ALL medications must be checked into me; DO NOT leave medications in backpacks.

***The camp will return empty or expired medication bottles to the parent to dispose of.

Sunscreen:  Parents are asked to Pre-apply sunscreen before camp. If your child needs sunscreen applied during camp please provide sunscreen with Child’s first and last name on it. Also a sunscreen form will need to be filled out.

INJURY ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCIES:  We are CPR/First Aid certified.  In cases of minor accidents/injuries we will administer basic first aid appropriate to the situation. An Accident/Incident report will be filled out if it is a significant injury. In case of a major emergency you will be contacted immediately and your instructions will be followed.  If a parent is unavailable, an emergency vehicle will be called and your child will be transported to the nearest care facility. Every attempt to locate the parents will be made and parents will be advised of the child's condition and location.  An Emergency Medical Authorization Form will have to be signed.  In the event of a major emergency we will need to be with the injured child if the parents cannot be located.  All costs involved in emergency treatment and/or the cost of an ambulance is your responsibility. Myself as the camp provider or my family, any employees will not be held liable for any sickness/injury of either parent/guardian or child while on these premises, or while any child is at camp.

EMERGENCY/NATURAL DISASTERS: Police, Fire or EMS will be notified immediately. If there is any form of emergency parents will be notified as soon as children are in a safe location. Parents will be told where they can pick up their children.  If parents can not be located we will contact the child's emergency contacts until someone is located.  No child will be left alone during or following any emergency. Once the emergency or natural disaster is deemed safe by adults in charge, kids will be put back into our normal activities. If a child is struggling to go back to camp we will spend some time talking to the child and work on alleviating their concerns and fears.**for children with special needs/disabilities see CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS section.

FIRE: If there should be a fire at our location we will walk all of the children to the baseball field west of the football field.  When we are safe we will notify you where to pick up your child.

ACCIDENTAL POISONING: the provider will call poison control center, to determine what the child ingested and follow the poison control center’s recommendation, call 911 and alert the parents of the incident.

ACTIVE SHOOTER:  If there is an active shooter at our location doors will be locked and blinds/window coverings will be pulled shut, kids will be hidden behind cover or concealment, away from door or windows,  police and parents will be notified.

ADVERSE WEATHER:  Should it become too hot or too cold at the camp facility the provider deems as an unsafe situation, we will contact the parents to come and pick up their children immediately.

BLIZZARD: During a blizzard, all parents will be notified to pick up their child/ren early while all roads allow travel.  Parents unable to reach our location may call and make arrangements for the child to be kept until they can get there..  (additional fees may apply)

LOCK DOWN:   If we receive a “reverse 911” requiring a lock down due to danger or act of terror, we will account for all children and their safety, secure the building and call the parents.  Children will not be released to an authorized party for pick up until the police or other authority allows us  to do so.

ELECTRICAL STORMS/HIGH WINDS/HAIL: During electrical storms children will be kept away from windows and electrical devices.  All electrical devices not required will be turned off.  Children afraid of thunder and lightning will be kept calm to the best of our ability.

GAS LEAK/NEIGHBORHOOD EVACUATION/POWER OUTAGE: In case of a neighborhood evacuation for whatever reason, we will contact all parents and make arrangements for pickup.

LOST CHILD: If a child is lost, all children will be gathered in one area and supervised while the provider searches the entire location.  If the child is not located in the location, the provider will immediately search outside and within a several block radius. If the child cannot be found, the Police Department and parents will be notified.  Please notify the provider if the child has a tendency to wander off or run away.

REVERSE EVACUATION:   Provider and children will seek shelter and safety inside a building when said persons are outside the building and are faced with a threat, such as an armed individual or a dangerous animal.

SHELTER IN PLACE: Persons (provider and all  children) who are in a building will seek shelter in the building from an external threat.

CAMP  RULES – DISCIPLINE:   We believe discipline is used to teach a child, not as a punishment. We achieve this through love, consistency, redirection and firmness. We stress two main patterns of behavior: respect for other people and respect for property. The children are explained what the rules of camp are, so they are all familiar with the guidelines.

·         No running, jumping, or screaming permitted inside the the building

·         No hitting, pushing, biting, grabbing, kicking, spitting, or pinching others

·         No standing or climbing on chairs, tables, or furniture

·    ·  No mistreatment of camp building

Parents will be asked to pay for or replace items if this occurs

·         No name calling, teasing, swearing, bad language such as ‘shut up’, tattling, or potty talk

·         No violent play allowed

·         No roughhousing, climbing or sitting on, pulling, or lifting/carrying other children

·          No going out the door at pick up time without an adult

·     The following methods of discipline will be used, at an age-appropriate level:

1.    Encourage children to solve problems themselves

2.    Intervention and discussion

3.    Redirection to another play area

4.    Loss of privilege

5.  Phone call or conversion with parents

If we feel there is a chronic behavioral issue that needs attention, we will let the parents know so that we can resolve it with some consistency between us. These types of behaviors might include such things as fighting, use of bad words, chronic hitting, etc. Together, we will try to find a solution. You may be called to remove your child if his/her behavior prevents us from being able to properly care for the other children. If the problem continues, your child will be asked to leave camp for the safety and well being of all.

TRANSPORTING CHILDREN & FIELD TRIPS:   N/A We will not be leaving the camp location. It is the parents responsibility to get their child to and from camp.** Vehicles will ONLY be used in extreme emergencies.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS & MONEY:  It is strongly encouraged not to send toys or money to camp with your child. This prevents any jealousy, arguing, breakage, or losing of personal items. Your child is welcome and encouraged to bring a sweatshirt or jacket; these items will be placed in a location labeled for your child.

MEALS: One nutritious snack that meets the USDA guidelines for young children is served at no extra cost to you. Our snack times vary according to seasonal schedules. Please see me if you are unsure about our current times. Nutrition is very important at any age and we would like to help establish good eating habits early.  Please do not send candy or gum, except for special occasions and when requested. You are responsible to send a water bottle and sack lunch with your child each day to camp.We will not administer a modified diet to your child unless there is a medical condition that requires this; please let me know so we can work something out.

PHOTOGRAPHS: From time to time we will take photographs of our activities. The photo authorization form allows your child to be photographed while at camp. A current photo of your child will be kept in their file for administrative purposes.  All photos will be available for parents/guardians to see/share.  If you do not want photos of your children taken please write “No Photos” across the Photo release and sign it.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES –FIELD TRIPS:Our main goal is to provide a variety of fun learning experiences for all of the children. We will not leave the property of the camp during any of our camp days. Since we do not leave the facility children can arrive and leave anytime throughout the day by an authorized adult on the child’s list.

MEDIA USAGE:  We do not have access to media usage at our camps. If a child brings a tablet, phone, computer to camp this will be kept with their things and not be permitted to be used at camp.

CHILD ABUSE/NEGLECT: We are required by Colorado State law to report any form of physical, sexual or emotional abuse of any children in our care. If we notice any signs of abuse at any time, we will alert the child’s parent(s) immediately both verbally and in writing, along with a full description of the symptoms (bruising, sores, sudden extreme behavioral changes, etc.). We will document the same information for ourselves and the proper authorities will be contacted. Parents may be notified by us about your child having bruises or scrapes that may have occurred during playtime either in camp or out of camp. The notes we send home are to bring to the parent’s attention any bruises or injuries that the parents may not have been aware of.

If you or I suspect child abuse, we are to report it to the Jefferson County Department of Human Services, telephone 303-271-1388
