Oakdale Gators Recreational Swim Team
Updated January 12th, 2019
The Oakdale Swim Team's Gator program has served as the place for an introduction to swim skills and introduction to competitive swimming. Swimmers learn the fundamentals of the four competitive swimming strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle), racing starts, turns, streamlines, underwater kicking, and breath control. There are four meets in the season, two in June and two in July. Check the schedule below for more info. Although the competitive nature of swim meets can be exhilarating, we make it a key point that swim meets are not the primary focus of our summer team. Attending practice, becoming comfortable and strong in the water, learning the fundamentals of competitive swimming, and listening to coaches are just some of the key to becoming a successful swimmer in our organization.
The Gators program has multiple coaches for every ability level. We have coaches in the water to help aid younger swimmers. We have coaches on deck for all levels of swimmer. Also, have coaches for junior high and high school level swimmers looking for a team over the summer! Gators practice, while being a place to learn and improve, is also an excellent social setting for kids to make new friends while learning a new sport and life skill!

These two fundraisers help OST keep registration fees down, buy new training equipment, and rent and use pool facilities. Thus, participation in the Swim-A-Thon is crucial to the continuing function of the team and is therefore mandatory. A minimum contribution of $50 per family is required. Families that do not meet this requirement will be charged the difference two weeks after the Swim-A-Thon.
