ART – YEAR 6

AUTUMN TERM

Pupils will have the opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Accurately produce work in the style of artists and movements
  • Evaluate own work, visually adapting and improving work
  • Experiment with oil pastels and paint
  • Research facts about an artist

Organic Forms – pupils will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge about:

  • Shape and form

Self Portrait - pupils will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge about:

  • Drawing accurately from observation using shape, tone and texture
  • How to use colouring pencils, exploring blending and shading
  • Producing detailed line drawings

ART – YEAR 6

SPRING TERM

Throughout the term pupils will have the opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Accurately produce work in the style of artists and movements
  • Evaluate own work, visually adapting and improving work
  • Identify primary, secondary and tertiary colours and explain how to mix them, and describe complementary and harmonious colours
  • Research facts about an artist

Escher Tessellations – pupils will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge about:

  • How to add colour neatly and with some skill
  • Tessellating shapes
  • Drawing accurately from observation using shape, tone and texture
  • Using watercolour paints
  • Blending and shading
  • How to produce detailed line drawings


ART – YEAR 6

SUMMER TERM

Pupils will have the opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Accurately produce work in the style of artists and movements
  • Add colour neatly and with skill
  • Use pen, biro and charcoal, exploring tone, texture, shape, line and form

Artist Study– pupils will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge about: 

  • Produce a repeating pattern using polystyrene tile printing
  • Produce a collage inspired by an artist.
  • Research facts about an artist.
